Photos look amazing!

BBC news music should be good as it was re-recorded last December (20th) at Abbey Rd using the BBC Orch and David Arnold !

That makes no sense. I'm expecting a reworking of the existing packages by David Lowe. I wouldn't expect BBC News to use the BBC Orchestra for the string sections of any music produced for W1 and I certainly wouldn't expect them to switch to David Arnold!

I speculate that we have already heard a clue as to what to expect from the 2013 BBC News packages from David Lowe's website in the 'Sub Mix 2012' track he uploaded before christmas.

That said, any use of a live orchestra would be fantastic and would help to add warmth to the news music which has of recent years become more 'electronic' sounding.

I imagine that recording in Abbey Road was for 'Global with Jon Sopel' which has a strong orchestral sound from what I've heard.

The rest of the music was mastered and completed a while back in time for the piloting. Expect countdowns to sound like the 'BBC News Euphoric Close' from the Olympics, the rest of the music is the same apart from the odd tweak here and there.

Nope.

Interesting to read this - have we heard anything else about World News America moving timeslots? I thought it aired at 2200 GMT now.

I get the feeling that this branding tweak will all be a bit last minute. Or else we would have either had the move earlier, or at least a final date earlier.

Then again I really don't know anything that has not been mentioned on TV Forum.

Only reporting what I've seen. World have been piloting for a long time so I'd be surprised to see any major changes between now and launch, it isn't last minute by any means but they may tweak here and there. That is the point of piloting! Some music was recorded at Abbey Road in December but at present they are still using music they were using when they started piloting in November.

It might also be worth mentioning that a HD version of the World's Newsroom promo can be seen on the press release page (http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/worldnews/wn-studios-launch.html).

Weirdly, that has different music again!

Indeed, I recall from the 2003 "relaunch" that the BBC polled the public on "What represents the BBC News to you?" The answer was by and large the music and the pips. I can't see either going for a long while yet.

Remember how long the original 1999 titles stuck around when N6 changed (for the worse imo) into this: http://youtu.be/3CHgm8Bc0_Q?t=59s

I'm sure that same research was done in 2008 and discovered the same thing.

Also, I'm pretty sure the original thunderclaps and strings from David Lowe were recorded with real instruments.

Either that, or some very good sound sample package.
