Why should they change the branding that has made them distinctive, and successful for the sake of it. The move to HD necessitates some tweaking, and technical changes with the new studio.

Once the brand starts to no longer help them, then would be the right time to change.

After all this time, it still has a distinctive music, and recognisable brand when looked at compared to the competition in the likes of Sky News, CNN, Fox News etc

I concur. I think we'll be surprised at how fresh it feels when we get to NBH despite there just being slight tweaks.

The on-screen graphics we have seen so far for the DOG and Straps feels very dull and anything but fresh, hopefully this gets tweaked, or the rest of the presentation/branding is fresh enough for both Smile

I don't think the channel is moving to HD as has been suggusted theres no HD frequencies or tests to signal the move to HD.

I think there are already some places where the current channel is being upscaled to HD already, so perhaps no additional test frequencies are required?

I think harshy is referring to satellite tests which are carried out prior to a channels launch, from my limited knowledge these can be picked up if you have the right satellite equipment.

Yes that's what I meant satellite tests!

It could be argued that time is now - I don't think the look is particularly distinctive anymore and to me at least it kind of suggests the BBC is stuck where it was a decade or so ago. The music I'm indifferent on - I agree it shouldn't be changed for the sake of changing it, but similarly it shouldn't be kept for the sake of keeping it and of course only came into being thanks to the BBC being willing to ditch it's famous news themes of the 90s to make way for it.

It was 5am in 2008.

Unless they intend to keep the overnight presenter an extra hour, and cut Naga Munchetty's 5-8 shift. I cant really see that happening.

Its most likely to be 5am or 8am.
