Surely not proper HD? Upscaled possibly.

Does anyone know how long has BBC World News been broadcasting in HD in the US?

The News elements of BBC World News will not be native HD - BBC TVC is entirely SD 16:9 for News so any HD outlets will be upscaling. Other content that is shown - like Panorama - could be HD (as it is being made in HD for domestic broadcast)

Once BBC World News moves its news production to New Broadcasting House (sometime in January apparently) then the studio output is likely to be originated in HD, though how much location content is going to be HD I don't know.

It appeared HD, and has the 'HD' icon used on BBC HD channel in the UK. Also it's own HD channel on Time Warner cable in NYC.

Maybe it's just being done that way as it's about to go HD so soon, or perhaps being americans they've confused 16:9 with HD

It actually is in HD not only for those in NYC with Time Warner Cable and Cablevision subscribers which has a separate HD feed but also for the PBS simulcasts of BBC World News is also carried in HD.
However, whether the PBS stations are in high definition or not is dependable on the television market and the funds available. However, the PBS stations serving the NYC area (WNET, WLIW and NJTV) are in HD.

as previously mentioned however the programme is not made in HD and will not be until it moves to NBH. Therefore it must be being upscaled for broadcast on said HD channels.

I don't get to see much of bbc world news and I have a few questions to ask?
Is there a full hour of news?
Who Is the overnight presenter ?
And is there sport and business every hour?

Generally the news is limited to 30 minutes (except for programmes as GMT and Impact which last longer), with sometimes an ad-break in it. The 30 minutes left is filled with documentaries or sport and business. That's the general schedule in weekdays.

The overnight presenter depends on what you call night, since it is an international channel. I never watched BBC World News over the (European) night, so I can't answer that question for you. This might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_news_presenters#BBC_World_News_presenters

Ok thanks. So dose the sport and business have a set time and is the business named as world business report or just business news?

The business news is sometimes part of the news broadcast. For example, when it comes to the Euro crisis, the presenter of World Business Report will take a seat at the desk to explain it some more, like a correspondent. But generally it is :00 World News, :27 International Weather Forecast, :30 World Headlines, :31 World Business Report, :45 Sport Today (from Salford) and at :57 or so ads and programme announcements.
