Essentially, this is the replacement for The Hub, is it?
Indeed. Out of all BBC World's programming, presentation-wise, The Hub is probably the last I would have ditched - great music and graphics, and a variation to presenting from the desk. I think Impact's presentation easily needs a complete overhaul.
But of course, this decision would have been made due to editorial reasons rather than presentation, but just thought I'd put my thoughts out there!
Boring single static head-on shot.
Very limited use of the news wall for image variety.
The Asian-esque theme music was good to start with, but now feels diluted and out of place on a newscast.
If its targeted to an Asian audience, then why drop the "Asia" tag?
It's supposed to be Impact with Mishal Husain, yet she's hardly ever on. (see inference below)
Doesn't have a suitable business segment. These are irregular and almost random on the three daily editions of Impact.
The yellowed livery clashes with the bright red desk. Mind you, they've attempted to inject a bit more of the livery colour by having the yellowed lighting panels in the newsroom behind.
Editorially, whilst they often try to lead with an Asian story, quite often it appears contrived and a shoehorned piece because they couldn't think of anything else.
And finally...........an overrated commander of the Good Ship Impact? Just a personal opinion.
And finally, finally.........because you're not on it, Pete.

Well enjoy you last look at these programmes in TVC tomorrow. They won't be back until the 14th at least, when things may look a tad different.
Plus I have to say, I really am not a big fan of Mishal Husain; she comes as arrogant, and not very engaging. I think she is more suitable for on location assignments and interviews than presenting the news IMHO.
For anyone interested in such things, the final editions from TVC have today have gone as follows:
GMT - was presented by David Eades
Impact - was presented by Tim Willcox
The Hub with Nik Gowing - I'm told will in fact be presented today, for it's final edition, by Nik Gowing
World News Today with Zeinab Badawi - will be presented today by Zeinab Badawi
Business Edition with Tanya Beckett - don't know. It was Susannah Streeter last Friday.
Nik signs off the final Hub without a specific mention of its demise, but with an inkling of a change and a sturdy reference to the "Hub" in front of him, accompanied by a jazzed up version of "It's A Wonderful World" and solstice imagery.
