Hello! I've actually taken part in rehearsals for Studio C, so I can provide a bit more of an insight into how things work.
All of the cameras are, as you know, on rails, and are remotely controlled. There is a camera on the ceiling behind the presenter, which will be used for end shots and possibly paper previews. There is a grey walkway leading to the desk from the studio floor. They are considering working on a night version of the London skyline, which looks spectacular in shot. I was interviewed by Tim Willcox, Geeta Guru-Murthy and Naga Munchetty as part of the rehearsals, and some of the main advice they were given was not to wear bright clothes due to the lighting, and not to wear jeans under the desk due to the shots that will be used (as you can see in the picture above).
I don't know whether any of this is useful, it's mostly trivial stuff, but there you go! I could try and answer any questions if you have them; I've been several times.

The understanding I had from a floor manager was that all BBC World content between 1200 and 1800 comes from Studio B.
Love It. I wonder if they'll use a Newsroom Backdrop for the 2130-2200 Half Hour. Also does anyone know whether the 1500 Edition will come from here or Studio B?

Could a future possibility be a newsroom background?
I really love this set, but I think BBC World News will feel weird without a newsroom backdrop.

As posted on a previous page, the backdrop was up for public debate and these were the options:
So still possible altered backdrops could appear but seemingly London skyline was the favourite
For those without a Global Minds account (I only signed up to see what the fuss was), the other options were:
- View of London
- View of London with BBC graphics
- BBC graphics
- BBC's new building
And this was the corresponding image...

Does this mean bulletins will finally have a proper closing again?
If we have to lose a real newsroom background then that wonderful London view is the best alternative. Fake newsroom or just a loop of some graphic would be terrible. Hope they use a night time London background too.

Really nice... I'm surprised nobody has said anything about the huge HD globe on the left which will no doubt look incredible on screen.
The more I see these studios, the more I think that BBC World News got the better deal where studios are concerned.

What is the purpose of the cabinet sort-of-thing behind Karin? Does it house a printer or something?
Looking great from that image - lots more screens and potential presentation areas, and the end of Tim wearing jeans, just maybe. Whenever HD comes along for BBC World News, the studio will certainly look its best.
All we need is the date the channel moves in to be confirmed...

I think there is a printer in the middle of it. Certainly looks neater than having a printer just sat there, particularly when it will often be in shot.

It looks like a neat solution to that problem, yes - with some of the space underneath the desk quite exposed it was probably hard to fit a printer in there without it being visible on air or hard to reach.

Correct!
