When is the move to BH happening for BBC World News? Wikipedia is still saying October 2012 for the move into the new studios. This would make it tomorrow if it is October.

It will be after the US Elections, so November. We don't have an exact date.

Thanks. Any news about whether Newsday & the overnight bulletins are moving as well?

No News... but seeing as both Newsday and the simulcast overnight bulletins are produced by BBC World News, I think we can safely assume they are moving with the rest of that channel.

Are you sure the overnight joint service is produced by BBC World News? Unless something has changed recently it was actually the News Channel that was responsible for all the joint bulletins overnight.

I think the giveaway is any live links on the overnight have the 'local' time on the live bug, that's only used by the BBC World gallery.

It doesn't matter which studio or gallery they use (it all falls under BBC News after all), the team responsible for the over night service always used to be the domestic News Channel team. Things may have changed since I last spoke of this with anyone here. Way back on the late 90's and early 2000's it would be News 24's graphics and presentation (to a certain extent) going out on BBC World during the news segments. Certainly last time Nicky spoke of this (that I saw) the News Channel was still very much in charge.

Looking at the output, it looks like the World team are in charge on weekday nights but over the weekend with the bulletins being very short on World, it may well be a News channel operation.

You can't base it on the output you see on the TV. Overnight bulletins have always featured more heavily on World News ever since simulcasts first began back in 1998 ish.

The point David makes though is that although it looks as though it's the BBC World team/funding that provides the overnight service, it could well be the News Channel team all week even though they use N8 rather than N6. I don't know the answer, but given that like David said it was always traditionally News 24 that drove the overnight service, be it in N8 (then News 24) or N9 (then World), I wouldn't be surprised that such an arrangement hasn't changed. It's probably something practical like N6 needing to cool down or something each day that requires overnights to come from N8. N6 is a traditional TV studio unlike N8 which is converted office space so it may well have special requirements. Then again, I could be talking a load of rubbish.

AIUI All overnight bulletins simulcast on BBC News and BBC World News are produced by BBC World News and have been since 2008.

World News America is being shown on the NC now as well as World.

Did the US (& others) get the Jimmy Saville package?

Didn't think it would mean a lot outside the UK?

I would imagine the Jimmy Savile package would be for UK audiences if World News America went for a commercial break, and the usual breakfillers would be on for World and PBS viewers.

Yes, i am watching, and World News went to an ad break.

Looks like we now have an extra World News bulletin at 2200UKT (Babita Sharma currently presenting) for the next two weeks until USA clocks change and World News America moves back an hour. I wasn't watching earlier, but would assume this means that Business Edition has been pulled as well.

As it happens, the NBC Nightly News had a report about the Savile story one day last week. It was by Keir Simmons (ex-ITV reporter) and took a fairly simplistic overview of the story, with particular attention paid to the BBC's involvement. So, I don't think it would be totally unknown to at least some Americans.
