If they made the cut to the regions pretty quick then the presenter could then say '..and on the News Channel its time for Sportsday'

Except they can't do that - London don't cut to the regions, the regions all cut away from London so need a clean second to get out (and back in again at the end).

That's not been the case for a while - the News Channel is the sustaining feed for BBC One during the 1/6/10 regional opts. (London sustains during Breakfast and the shorter weekend bulletins)

Does anyone notice how far away we've come from discussing BBC World News output?

All they need to say is something like 'News where you are coming up on BBC One. There's more throughout the evening on the BBC News Channel, but for now that's the BBC News at Six. [zoom out, proper close]

(now back to BBC World News...)

^Absolutely WRONG. Clunky. Awkward. ...did i say "wrong"?

Great to see Karin Giannone on The Hub again today, I find her more watchable than Nik Gowing.

Bit of an editorial whoopsie on the BBC Two similcast today. Top story was about a schoolgirl who had been shot by the Taliban and was to fly to the UK for treatment. After the report and a DTL interview with a correspondent from earlier, the presenter (Kirsty Lang) went on to plug a special program about the girls plight broadcasting on BBC World News at three different GMT times, Kirsty was quite hesitant in reading this out as I think she knew that poor BBC Two viewers wouldn't be viewing this documentary any time soon. Embarassed

BBC World News on BBC 4 did a similar thing tonight although it was simulcast on BBC News channel.

Kirsty Lang in N8, interviewing someone DTL over at Broadcasting House. The screen location tag now reads: "BBC Broadcasting House".

Indeed, I appreciate that - I was just pointing out that network cannot speed up the opt out points - there needs to be a clear second before the sustaining feed, whatever it is, is cut up so that all the regions can get out cleanly. My choice of words was a bit lacking.

I have posted in Birdsong, but worth a mention here that the World Service are getting another round of cuts. Moving from 18 to 14 hours of news every day, reducing regional variations, and renaming World Briefing, 'The Newsroom.'

The following statement has been issued by the BBC.

Quote:
The BBC, together with a number of other broadcasters, is experiencing deliberate, intermittent interference to its transmissions to audiences in Europe and the Middle East.

Impacted services include the BBC World News and BBC Arabic television channels and BBC World Service radio services in English and Arabic.

Deliberate interference such as the jamming of transmissions is a blatant violation of international regulations concerning the use of satellites and we strongly condemn any practice designed to disrupt audiences’ free access to news and information.

^ So who is doing this? Shocked I noticed this morning that signal seemed weak and was lost several times.
