It seems like the on-screen graphics will be the worst part of the move to Broadcasting House

The new straps were used during the news summary on The Andrew Marr Show a few weeks ago (not sure if they are still being used now) but then, I thought they looked quite good. They animated well and looked a bit more slick than the current design, which has tired quickly.

The 2007 graphics were best IMO.

The new Straps feel like a step back. The way the graphics animate and look bare no relation to the brand with the Globe and rings. The font feels lazy and generic, and again bare no relation to the brand.

The graphics being semi-transparent do not feel bold and confident.

Whilst things are smaller which may look nicer in HD, they take up the full width of the screen and don't feel as designed and carefully positioned as the current set.

It seems very different to what we been use to.

The breakfiller is played out by World Pres right? Is that moving to NBH with the rest of World?

I believe so - in fact, after a little deduction it looks as though they went live from their new home today. That would certainly explain the updated break filler and NBH-esque style graphics.

Its also got a strange cue dot on the picture itself I'll see if I can do a grab of this too.

They aren't moving to NBH, but they are moving, or have moved, into a brand new presentation suite in preparation for the launch of World News on HD

Hey guys!

Just thought you would be interested to know that tomorrow afternoon, I'm heading to New Broadcasting House to act as a presenter in the BBC World News studios. I'll let you know how it goes, and get some pictures if I can.

Great, looking forward to your report. Smile

If the new look is trending back towards Helvetica, then what a shame. To quote Erik Spiekermann, one of today's greatest typographers, branding is just a f**king typeface...that's all you need. The same applies to Gill Sans and the BBC. It's such a distinctly British typeface, and it fits so well with the BBC brand that it's a shame they would default to one of the most formless typesets in design.

Has HARDtalk already moved to BH? ...they seem to be using the BH graphics?!?

...the studio looks identical but the floor looks somewhat darker and bluer than usual with no shadows. The ceiling lightbox looks completely fake.

The one currently on iPlayer with Shaun Ley has been done from Westminster studio used for Daily Politics.

EDIT: Oh, I see. This edition is from the new virtual studio in NBH, yes. Lightbox is very very fake!
