I think they were just debating whether or not they should replace there weekend schedule with news, because if they did than many of the programs they show on the weekend would not be seen, and because so much of there programming broadcasts on the weekend, they never thought the news was important enough to replace the program schedule.
I don't they are sloppy when reporting breaking news. On weekdays they receive news very fast.
Adnan Nawaz on midweek newsreading duty today!! Yesterday, it was Martine Croxall. Must be a lotta the regulars and regular stand-in's unavailable this week.
Geeta hasn't been around and her normal replacement (Nisha Pillai or Peter Dobbie) have been out of the picture, giving us an almost whole week of Tim Willcox.
Havent been here for a while but I have to say I like the changes apart from the loop on the small desk... loops for about 10seconds, its boring and needs to be removed or changed!
Stephen Sackur anchoring GMT again today and he had Lyse Doucet with him at the newsdesk, discussing her exclusive interview with the UN in Afghanistan. Stephen then alluded to the fact that the interview would be shown in full on today's edition of "Impact Asia" at 1300hrs GMT. Is Impact Asia now being shown on Friday's? It's not shown on our schedule here in the UAE, rather "World News Today with Lyse Doucet" is announced.
Wonder why Impact Asia isn't shown on Fridays anyway. Seems bizarre to be only Mon-Thurs.

I saw the 0900 GMT edition of BBC World News and Peter Dobbie said the full interview would be on "World News Today with Lyse Doucet". Did you see the programme, James? Was it branded as WNT or Impact Asia? If GMT and The Hub run five days per week, surely Impact Asia should too?

Hi Rob. I did eventually see the bulletin. It was WNT, and not Impact Asia (although they now use the Amber coloured footlights behind the glass to give it a kinda "Impact Asia" feel to it, LOL. Although formally branded on a Friday as World News Today with Lyse Doucet.)
Really have no idea why - surely it could still go out as IA but presented by Lyse on a Friday?
That's ludicrous!! Since when has BBC World's remit been to show live sporting events? Granted, it is the weekend so it's hardly a busy time for news, but surely the hour could be better spent on a proper news/current affairs documentary? I really can't see that many people outside the UK being interested in the Oxbridge boat race. I feel that this decision sets a dangerous precedent for the channel - what next? World Cup matches? Live Olympics coverage?

Pah! That's nothing! Russia Today once aired a live international pole dancing championship. No joke.
