I'm not really bothered what they use so long as its pleasing on the eye and not distracting.
I also think a Lightwell product would fall into the "not pleasing on the eye" category. So if a backdrop is in the works then it should be a Live HD picture.

The vast majority of BBC World viewers live outside the UK. The general impression given on Global Minds was that the international viewer respected the Britishness of the BBC Brand and, therefore, liked the idea of that same Britishness being represented by the London skyline as a backdrop on World News.
And, why not? Having that as the closing shot backdrop reinforces that notion which is loved by the audience. Al Jazeera English do the same, if I'm not mistaken, on their news broadcasts from London.
Personally, I like the idea of each bulletin closing with a different global backdrop, or each programme having random looped backdrops as suggested above.
There's plenty of international options to choose from, I guess.
Although the BBC seeks 'brand uniformity', and that's why all news outlets on tv currently have the same theme, red circles and so on. However, I feel that World in particular is missing an opportunity to further exploit the International and London theme, which viewers overseas absolutely adore! Give them what they want. After all, they're paying too.
I also wouldn't mind that London background, it looks very nice, much better than any of the usual opening graphics or the awful fake newsroom. If it's gonna be a live shot of their new newsroom then I would like that as well.
I agree with you, I would prefer a live shot of the newsroom, or even the atrium. I have not been at the new building, but judging by the pictures I've seen, there are plenty of spots that could be utilized as potential backdrops.
Tim Willcox on both Impact and The Hub yesterday.
Tanya Beckett did both World News Today and Business Edition as well.
Naga Munchetty did the 5am TWT slot this morning and is coming back later for GMT as well.
The Sports Presenter Peter someone or other from Focus on Africa was the lead anchor on the programme yesterday.
Since they ditched Sport Today from morning schedule WBR is again 12 minutes long. Good change, regular news presenter does a 5 min sport summery at :45 past the hour and then continues with news.
Naga Munchetty making a welcome appearance on Impact today, for the first time, as I recall. Naga is really an excellent presenter and works exceptionally well across all output on BBC News. She has the right range of credentials to match all aspects of the output.
Perhaps somewhat controversially, I far prefer Naga to a certain other overrated rising star who appears on various BBC News outlets.
I totally agree BBC WORLD. Here in the UK, Naga does an excellent job on BBC Breakfast on reliefs and most Sundays. She's got such a bubbly, warm personality - in short, perfect for Breakfast! It's very convenient that we can share her on national and international broadcasts.
I like Naga (and Mishal for that matter) but I don't like the BBC World team as much as the 'dream team' of 2001, with Dennis, Gowing, Finighan, Pillai, McNaught, Navaratnam, Hayton, Cole, Embley, Brancher, Doucet. Now *that* was a presenting team. Some of the recent additions seem awfully lightweight to me and some, like Ros Atkins, I find a little irritating (in a similar way to Ben Brown). Whereas back in 2001 there wasn't a presenter that I thought was either unsuitable or irritating. But, times change I guess....
Anita MacNaught tweeted me the other day stating that whilst she enjoyed her time being studio based on World (specifically mentioning her colleagues Embley, Doucet and Finighan with fondness) she is FAR happier (her use of capital letters) out on the road as a correspondent.
Again, without mentioning names, there are some presenters who just don't fit well on World at all. No gravitas and some who just shout and bawl at the camera.
You know who I'm referring to, Rob............
