By the way, on weekends World is using the rooftop set all day long. Such a nice sunset background behind Peter last 2 bulletins.

Much like the News channel then.

Thought some might like this... Rico Hizon trying out some Judo, rather an amusing clip!

I don't think so. 2011/12 were very special for London/UK and Royal Wedding was the first out of these 3 historic events taking place in last 12 months or so.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. It sticks out like a sore thumb as it was so long ago. It's the sort of thing one of the American networks might do. Jubilee I could understand...

Bit off topic but...

Last night after the ceremony BBC News had switched to overnights and was with World but were only showing photos of the event rather than video footage.

I know that they may not have had rights to show it internationally but Sky News is broadcast around the world and they were showing loads of video footage from inside.

How does it work with showing sports rights internationally?

The rules for Sky are the same as those for BBC World

The news access rights are quite complicated:
http://www.olympic.org/Documents/Games_London_2012/IOC_News_Access_Rules-London_2012_Eng.pdf
Basically it's 6 minutes a day, in no more than 3 news programmes and not until 3 hours after the rights holders.

Opening Ceremony footage was released via the agencies last night, I'm not sure what time though. Sky would only have used that, I don't know why World didn't, maybe they were saving their uses for later in the day?

World News is saving its six minutes for Sport Today. So main programmes can only use stills

I have to agree with buster on this. When I saw the BBC World special titles for the first time, I too wondered why the Royals featured in it. I appreciate it's all about London as well as the actual Olympic sports, but even so, William and Kate are fairly old news now. Like buster says, if they wanted to latch on to the recent international success of the Royals, the Jubilee would have been a better choice, especially given the Queen's role in the opening ceremony. As it is, it just stands out a mile as a cheap tactic to get international royalists on board.

^ Isn't that shot of planes from the Jubilee or is it from Royal wedding?

Probably, as the Red Arrows were involved. And the first shot of the Union Jacks is also from the Jubilee. But, neither are as obvious as the shot of William and Catherine. If they were going to choose a Royal to feature in the title sequence, I feel it should have been the Queen. It is her year after all, and the Royal Wedding was in 2011.

Yes, it was a rather nice setting, apart from the rain at one point! The overnights backdrop behind Adnan Nawaz last night was also rather nice, as it was behind Naga in the golden hour.

A Scottish presenter starting the London Live programme on BBC World News from N8. Not named at all. Looks like there are comms problems in Olympic Park. Technician man seen behind sofa and Sue Thearle mentioned technical problems too to Babita. The sound is very tinny too.

Lighting problems - a bulb has blown!

Possibly BBC Scotland's Julie Peacock?

I like the London Live breakbumpers on the channel, would be good if they ditched the 4 year old crappy one and made more with international locations and give it a bit of variety.

I would agree with that.
