Since the move of BBC WORLD NEWS to their Olympic studio the quality of their actual news coverage has dropped dramatically.

Whilst it's great to see what is happing in London, let us not forget that this is a 'world news' channel and it's sad to see that coverage of other major news events and the award winning journalism that the BBC is known for has been lost.

Isn't it because it's the BBC's only World channel and the only way they can broadcast bits to an international audience?

I really don't get why people are complaining about them not covering the news. Since yesterday most of the top story has been Syria and other news before news about the olympics.
People should have seen this coming all along. This is a seasonal coverage, part of 'London Calling.'

Yes, the news coverage seems the same to me just from a different studio

Was watching the BBC Four bulletin earlier tonight with Kirsty Lang, First 15 minutes of the 30 mins program was taken up by the Olympics. (mind you the doping and twitter bans were pretty big news and I was impressed with Kirsty's pronuciation of the banned athletes despite not hearing their names before going to air) Just so your all aware the normal BBC News headline bed was used and the Sky EPG titled the show as 'BBC WORLD NEWS London Live.'
Is the secondary studio for BBC World semi outdoors? I ask because Kirsty's hair was getting a bit of a blow about.

There is an open-air studio which the BBC News Channel, BBC World News and BBC London all share.

This may answer your question in a bit more detail...

You really love that video, the World bulletin came from the studio on the other side of the park, (with the big ugly laptop on the table.)

They have a terrace right next to the studio (which they use for presenting as well) but I think it was probably from the air conditioner. Noticed the same happening to other female presenters there.

It's not a studio - it's a stand-up presentation point.

Tim called it a studio, which was 'open air'. Wink

I do wish people would stop being so pedantic when it comes to studios, 'stand-up presentation points' or 'converted office spaces'. If the meaning is conveyed, then there is no issue. Sometimes it feels like there's a little bit of bullying of certain members with this insistence on perfect posts.

Has WN went down or is it just our feed?

Is it me or is Kasia Madera not that good at describing live or Breaking events? Tonight she keeps stuttering and not really knowing about what she's talking about. Off a script/auto cue she's OK, infact one of the best... but talking people through live pictures she does struggle quite frequently.

The lovely Lucy Hockings Wink doing a Kay Burley and working the crowds... Or the kids who performed! Lol
