Newsday!

Dark as night (literally) backdrop behind Sharanjit Leyl in Singapore on this edition, and a totally white background behind Kasia Madera in London. Rather strange looks both. Has the newswall in London broken down?

Babita has tweeted the view from the World studio, suggesting the London part of Newsday will come from the Olympic Park.

Incredibly funny interaction this morning from the super smooth Sanj Shetty and Martine Dennis. As we all know, Martine is a HUGE tennis fan and an even HUGER fan of a certain Mr. Nadal. Sanj was winding her up about the absence of Nadal from the Olympics. To which Martine suggested the possibility of "more than a mother and son relationship between her and rafa, if he's now got extra time on his hands", or words along those lines. Brilliant.

Incidentally, that was Sanj's last broadcast from N8 and indeed from TV Centre. He's now relocated to Salford, and he also commented this morning that all World Sports segments will come from there, starting from next week, even the overnights it would appear. There are only 4 segments remaining from TVC and those will be presented by Matt Gooderick.

Shame to see Sanj go from the N8 desk: he's been a great and often hilarious asset at the World studio. Good luck, Sanj.

In other news.........Aaron Heslehurst is on with Martine this morning. Clearly, during the replayed newspaper review just now, he was making her laugh so much during the replayed VT that she could barely speak on the return. She then ended the bulletin ultra early, leaving Aaron to actually say the Goodbye.

We then momentarily saw a black slide with white writing, which read: "BBC News / BBC World / VT Insert".

Lovely.

I didn't know that about Martine, like her even more now.

Oh my God, yes. She's a ravenous tennis fan and a Rafa fan of mega proportions, maybe even bigger than us! LOL.

You need to get up earlier on a Friday. It's hilarious.

At 5:30 yesterday morning they used this camera angle that I don't think I've seen before.


I have to say during the 5:00 hour I often wonder how many changes of seats there are - it sometimes reminds me of musical chairs the number of changes there are!

One minute Naga/Martine will be sat at the desk, next they'll be sat at the other side of the desk for Sally to present WBR etc.

Sam, that shot is actually used quite frequently, particularly during the business news. It's also common at weekends, sans the blue tinge, of course.

New titles this morning for a new program called 'London Live', Naga Munchetty read the headlines then after the titles we went to Komla Dumor at the BBC World Studio at the Olympic park.












And now Amelia Harris has Joined Komla Dumor on the sofa.

I thought it was strange last night (Argentina time) that after the weather appeared a yellow short-id like World News Today, the ID for one or two seconds, and this morning appeared several versions, like one that shows Sonyo . I also seen new pictures in the countdown (I knew they would do something like that), hopefully the show completely. The time-lapse at the end is spectacular.
