Good to see Katya Adler presenting Hardtalk this week. I think she would be a good news presenter as well

Interesting that, judging from that video, Sport Today will come from London and not Salford. I wonder if the BBC Focus on Africa team are producing it, rather than the BBC Sports News team?

I was just thinking the same thing. I guess that is the case. This programme seems to be targeted as a bulletin for carrier stations across the continent, which I guess is why the sport is integrated into the studio/team.

I was also wondering if the same production team is making this programme as the radio version? With the move to BH that may make sense. The sports presenter, Peter Okwoche, apparently is part of the radio team - according to a quick google search. I will have to try and listen to hear if he does a sports bulletin for that, as the long term plan may be for him to do both. I guess for the next few months the two versions will be completely separate, but post BH move I would be surprised if there wasn't close links between them. Closer World Service - World News links are inevitable in my opinion, and it will be very interesting to see how this changes (improves) the TV service. Smile

Katya reads the weekend news bulletins on BBC World one weekend in every two months, approx. She is a regular relief presenter at weekends, sharing with James Coomarasamy.

Focus on Africa has been on the BBC World Service Africa feed right now. I have just heard sports headlines before the half hour, so they do sport as an integrated part of the show. Sport Today on the World Service does come from Salford, but clearly the headlines I have just heard came from the team in London. I think the programme is on again at 6 for anyone who is interested.

Love the graphics on this and the slight variation on the music. Looks very polished and Komla is a brilliant presenter.

It looks like we, and African viewers in particular, are in for a treat.

Kasia Madera tweeted earlier:

My penultimate overnight shift! #Newsday moves to a new time next week, 2300 GMT start.

https://twitter.com/KasiaMadera/status/213091550396301312

I knew this was happening but I just wondered whether anyone knows whats happening after?

I've tried looking on the BBC Programs site and it still lists it as being 01:00 - 04:30, the World news guide however says it runs 00:00 (BST) - 02:30 (BST) I think. So it looks like they're reducing it by an hour.

Then it says we then have BBC World News until 06:00 (BST).

With them reducing it down is there a chance that they might start simulcasting from midnight?

As of Monday Newsday runs from 2300 - 0230 UK Time. There is then a new shift from 0300-0500 UK Time, which we were speculating before who would do. What this tweet has confirmed is that it will be a different presenter to Newsday, and not just Kasia/ Babita doing a six hour shift. So, do we think Mike Embley is going to do the night shift, or will he move to relief and someone else take overnights?
