BBC World News - to 14th January 2013

Hold on a sec... surely Mike Embley hasn't been ditched from the channel, in which case i would assume that he will be presenting at least the first two editions of Newsday, if not all three.

...and logic also dictates that if the overnight shift hasnt been shortened that Babita (overnight presenter) will either present the 1am Newsday or do a UK only bulletin at 1am so Newsday wont appear on Domestic at all?

...also... what time does Rico Hizon get up in the morning?

I would be surprised if Babita left Newsday. She's kind of always been the face of it (since the initial promos for it).

I think it will be Babita on Newsday, Adnan may take her place on the overnights, and Mike will be moved to a different daytime slot (no idea where) or to the weekends.

I could definitely be proven wrong though.

Wish they would make some double headed bulletins during the day.

Babita has confirmed on Twitter that she'll be presenting Newsday four days per week with Rico from June.

Also Kasia Madera has said on twitter that the presenters will be staying on for the rest of the night with WBR etc as usual.

So from what I can guess it will be BBC World News from 2am - 5am with World Business Report at :30 past the hour and sport today at :45 as it is at the moment.

So really everything is the same, except for the removal of the 'Newsday' branding.

Wonder what that means for Kasia, given she's only been doing two days a week on Newsday since she returned.

Hmm, this confuses me - if Babita will now do 4 days a week, plus two extra bulletins a day, she's taking on a massive amount of extra work. I think someone's misinterpreted something.



She's only ever done two days (Wednesday/Thursday nights Europe time) anyway.

Hold on, is the suggestion now that the shift would run from 2300 UKT to 0500 UKT? That can't be right.



She used to do the Saturday morning (or Friday night, depending on how you see it) generic bulletins as well, in the same way Adnan and Naga had before the Newsday-era.

Don't think this has been mentioned, but Katty Kay will be making an appearance on the US gameshow Jeopardy! between May 14th and 18th as part of the show's Power Players Week.

I agree. I doesn't work. Surely they would have to get a new dedicated team for overnights? If they do, Rachael Hodges, Gavin Grey and Sonali Shah please!

I think they will need a new overnight presenter for weekdays 0200 to 0500 UKT. Unless Mike Embley moves to that shift, but I can't see him wanting to do that. The other option would be for one of Komla/Naga to take the slot and both to present every week - but I can't really see that happening either. Surely the most likely option is Adnan getting a regular slot with Gavin Grey et al doing frequent cover. I guess Mike Embley will just end up being a main relief presenter through the day/weekend.
