BBC World News - to 14th January 2013

To be slightly clearer - BBC World News only has one studio in the BBC News Centre in London. There are two sets, or set areas, in the same studio, not two studios.

(In fact you could argue that BBC World News has no studios in London, as it's sets are actually based in general office space, rather than being studios in the conventional sense of the world.)

Alright, if you wanna be picky... 'Wait, so BBC World News is now using the midget office space for all generic bulletins and only using the huge office space for branded shows?

I can't be sure but I get the impression the News Channel & BBC World News are staying together for the 21:30 back half hour to cover the MJ death court case. There appeared to be no pause to ditch World like there normally is after the headlines were read.

Even if JamesyFish didn't say the exact terms, we all knew exactly what he was on about. There's no need to be so pedantic when the meaning is clear.

It's an issue that has arisen here before. Members could at least have the courtesy to follow protocol.

Anyone know at what time today Lyse Doucet's new programme airs? Unable to access the schedules on the website for some reason.

Ok, I've watched BBCWorldNews for about 20 minutes since the big change so my opinion is hardly to be taken seriously. I tried to watch GMT and found a wonderful new music that gives the right pace to a news programme. Unfortunately I found the programme to have no pace at all, so boring I coudn't keep watching it after 15 minutes. But I can't stand George Alagiah so I tried Impact Asia. Much better actually but I just can't stand those news round-ups right at the beginning of the programme. They just break the pace. If I want a news round-up I open a news website like bbc.com/news, I don't switch my tv on at a certain time. Plus, the fact that Geeta's news round-up included the story of an Australian guy who is apparently able to swallow a few dozens of swords is a disgrace. Even more disgraceful is that Mishal, once back to the main set, kept joking about it. It's 10 minutes past the hour and they're already feeding us this kind of "news". I don't know, maybe someone will say they increase their audience this way, and maybe that's true. But it's the kind of thing that makes me switch to AlJazeera right away, or just switch my tv off altogether. That's not what I want from a news channel and what makes me see BBCWorld News as deteriorating not necessarily in terms of presentation but in terms of the quality of its news output.
