I was just wondering when looking at some images on my computer that the newsroom lights were turned on before the graphics relaunch in dec 03, and after that the newsroom cirucluar lights were off after that. correct if Im wrong but did they turn them off to give the newsroom the colour look of there opening title and idents etc. look at my pc below in comparison with the newsroom and graphics.

Ah that's the perfect example of what i've been saying all along, (thanks bbcworld2005) that World turned those lights off, that for me really ruined it, shame because I have no criticism of the old set, just that the lights were turned off, it was so frustrating to watch!

Really? I liked the darker studio much better.

Presumably, for some kind of digital guide or some sort, something similiar to teletext just alittle better version of it.

My quess would have to be in the UK only.. that screencap was taken from News 24 and so who ever capped it would of had access to it. but Im not 100% sure so correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah you're right. UK only, available on the Sky Digital platform along with the BBC's Freeview digital terestrial service (previously the ill-fated ITV Digital). Its heavily promoted on News24 - they even ropped in Jane Hill's sister to feature in the trailer. Razz

Yes good old World still has good old fashioned teletext, but with seemingly less pages and no ads!

I've noticed that at the end of bulletins the news-reader often (perhaps always) says "You're watching BBC World" than remains silent for a few seconds and than reminds us to visit bbcworld.com and says what's coming up next. Do some viewers opt out during that pause?

what was the bbc world coverage of the presidential inauguration like? Did they use the same presentation as BBC News 24, i.e. presented by Gavin Esler looking very cold overlooking the White House?

It could be an opt out point for PBS stations, BBC America etc

Just looked at it an hour ago - it's from Washington as BBC News Special, then they go seperate ways, e.g. BBC World Newsroom, BBC News 24 Newsroom. The quality of BBC World's titles during the inauguration seemed to be dodgier than News 24.
