Why can't you get it into your head that BBC World have no money and cannot simply steal money from the licence fee or other sections or Worldwide?

You cannot permanently operate a channel at a loss, they've got to try and make money somehow.

Yeah that's true, World is not bad, shame that fantastic presentation has all gone though, it's look too much like News 24 with added commercials(I haven't seen any though), also why hasn't BBC Prime got any ads at all, dosen't make sense, surely there should be ads on the channel like UK TV.

BBC Prime is funded by subscription rather than advertising.

(I've always slightly resented payTV channels carrying adverts - effectively you're paying Sky to show you ads!)

Yesterday when watching BBC World I noticed throughout Asia Today and the News... with the different amount of shots used, as with the old set we only really saw 7 shots but today I (sadly) counted and saw 11 different shots of the desk and some of them looked quite good.

any hoo thought I might just share that thought. Very Happy

Yeah, but I liked the 7 shots in the old studio much better. For example I'd like a wider sight of the studio during the last reminder of the main headlines, perhaps a shot taken from the left of the presenter as it used to be in the old and glorious studio.
Moreover I hate the shot used when the news presenter introduces the business one because we see the business presenter almost from behind, which is nonsense. Wouldn't a shot from the right of the news presenter be much better?

Yeah that's the great thing with BBC Prime, no ads, just trailers, ident, next programme, UKTV should be like this!

Coinciding with BBC World's change in presentation, studio and broadcasting format a new marketing rational has also been conceived and launched which encapsulates the new channel direction: BBC World Marketing News

What do people think? Personally although it is quite a simple advertising campaign it does seem quite effective and IMHO the materials used each have quite an impressive story behind them.

I actually remember once them having a shot from the right of the news reader about a month ago it looked quite good and the business and sport presenter were reading on a different angle and what we saw behind us was the thing in the middle that is red..

After watching a video of mine with some old BBC World and also looking at some pictures of it on the web, I am actually begining to miss the old set. I liked it and always will.

Yep I liked the old set, but they forgot to turn the newsroom lights on the right hand side.

Looks like BBC World's breakfiller is having a few timing problems today, and the ident preceding the programmes look life an off air VHS recording, looks really poor IMHO.

BBC World has changed the end caption on the countdowns and idents from their website address, to the slogan 'Putting News First'. It was actually quite funny because at 0130 GMT, they were slow in opting out of the News 24 summary, so as Deborah McKenzie was reporting the next story, they suddenly opt-out with the ident and slogan of 'Putting News First' when they appear to be interrupting the news.

LOL @ BBC World, just seen this ident myself, not too bad, they are more camera shots as well.

That's not a great slogan, is it?
