BBC News does have loud drums (the explosion at the start) and then it's based on the pips - a very traditional sound which people equate to the BBC News throughout the world.
Hardly garage!

It should be done Burnet and Gall style from behind a large steel battleship style desk, with loud drums and bong style musical fanfare, as opposed to garage style music that BBC news seems to generically employ, and which should be confined to night clubs.

Watching 'The World Today' today and nice to see David on a Friday, but not so nice to see the VERY wooden Sally Eden! She really doesn't know how to interact with other presenters, thats fair enough if she was any good at reading autocue but her vioce sounds shakey; infact her whole presentation style is not very fitting to BBC World (especially TWT) with wood like that they may as well put her on News 24. Her entire closing link was done on the wrong camera, (tally light duh!) and on several occasions (on a wide shot) when David tried to have that nice little presenter chat over the music she just sits there with her head looking down into the desk, on one occasion David tried; started to open his mouth, looked at her and then went back to his scripts.
BBC World has some excellent business presenters, it'd be nice to see Domonic, Manisha or Aaron standing in for Sally Bundock. On that note Sarah Coburn has done an excellent job on TWT's WBR all week.

I think Sara Coburn is way under-rated and is an excellent presenter on BBC Television, having exposure in all three areas (Network, N24 and World). I wouldn't mind seeing her as a permanent replacement for Sally Bundock.
Your comments about Sally Eden today were highly accurate. As we know from Dominic di Natale's previous post in this thread, Manisha Tank is having some time away from broadcasting to do other things. Dominic himself is on two weeks holiday and Aaron is therefore filling in on Dominic's daytime shifts. Jane St. Clair has left the BBC altogether, as has John Terrett, so that only leaves Declan (Breakfast), Tanya (NYSE) and Angela, Mark and Shola (LSE) presenters to fill in the missing gaps. So, I reckon Sara Coburn is by far the best out of all of them, with of course the exception of Queen Beckett.
Linette Tye (formerly of BBC Asia Business Unit and former news presenter on BBC World) would be a welcome change to the entire line up, and bringing some welcome "international" feel to The World Today. All of the current presentation on TWT is mainly handled by English broadcasters (Aaron excepted). BBC World is - after all - an international broadcaster.

Now, now let's not get too excited BBC World; Sally brings a bright early morning feel as well as excellent presentation skills to TWT which has so far only been matched by the wonderful Sarah Coburn, Aaron Hazelhurst and it goes without saying Tanya in the "Martine & Tanya Era".
Thank you, I don't want to be horrible about her for no reason but I really don't see how she can continue to be a presenter on international television. She is so wooden and clearly lacks the confidence to ad-lib with co-presenters.
I would agree that TWT could have a more international feel to it, but without replacing either David or Sally (unless David is replaced with Adrian) it'd be nice to have an international news wrap going to all the big BBC newsrooms around the world, kind of like WBR goes to all the major stock exchanges around the globe.

Notice that they appear to have flipped the rota on Saturday's on World, with Adrian now doing the morning shift and Lucy the evening one, as opposed to vice-versa. Not sure who did the bit in between though yesterday!!
And, I watch BBC World every night and believe that Mike Embley did seven nights continuous this week. I don't recall him having a night off at all. He used to get Friday's off when Zeinab did Friday's. But not this week.
Poor Mike.
Poor us.

The weekends aren't that rigidly structured. The three shifts usually alternate between Adrian, Anita and Lucy (she's become a regular since Mike moved to weekdays), depending upon their personal and family commitments.

Wow. Wish my boss was so flexible.
Although, in the case of broadcast news, its good to juggle it around a bit, so as not to become monotonous, as in the case of the ever present Nik Gowing at exactly the same time every day after day.
Anita - family??? I don;t think she has any kids, but perhaps the others do.

Can any of you chaps with good memories recall the name of the former Newsround presenter who did a stint with BBC World back in 1996 and 1997? And I don't mean John Craven. It definately wasn't him.

Chris Rogers? Paul something (he is a BBC Reporter now)? Juliet Morris?
