I don't know if this is the case but Tsunami is a Japanese word and should in fact be pronounced with the last syllable stressed - very fast.

I always felt that it wold only be a matter of time before Manisha Tank graduated to presenting the News Bulletins on BBC World.

Can anyone confirm whether her recent stint was just a one-off, or the start of something more permanent?

As noted before, let's not forget that both Adrian Finighan and Mishal Hussein were presenters of WBR before being "promoted" to BBC World News presentation. Maybe Manisha is next in line for this.

(Although I do think that Aaron Heslehurst is just a touch too lively for the news............................before anyone has any ideas)

Her appearance seemed to me like they had nobody available to read the news and the picked up Manisha for 60 minutes. But she managed very well so I believe she could be the next newsreader.

The three minutes of silence were handled very well by the BBC and by David Jessel who, after all, is a great broadcaster.

I saw a report on BBC World where there was a scene of devastation and the presenter said (or at least it seemed to say) something like, "and these are the terrible scenes after the Toon Army swept through..." Those damned football fans!

Who was that presenting TWT this morning. I've never seen her before. She was a bit flat.

Quite some time ago. I guess the sponsorship ended. Which is good! Very Happy

They should put some background music while the presentes sign off to weather (e.g. use the final 47 seconds of the special closing titles, as when they were use to sign off the Washington-London simulcast)

Well, the Maldives Islands ended sponsoring the world weather the day of the tsunami. I guess the sponsorship wasn't over yet but of course it would have been tasteless and useless after what happened.

I agree. Without any music nor sting the sign off is rather cold. And I would like the presenter to say good-bye. Just good manners.
