Extra edition of BBC News with Lucy Hockings at 1730GMT.

It appears to be David Jessel.

Yep, the extra edition was at 1630GMT, then David Jessel at 1700.

Could you enlighten us a bit more on the nature of the weirdness?

Well, at 0930GMT I saw David Eades (if he presented The World Today he should habe finished his shift at 0730GMT), then at 1000GMT Lyse Doucet began her shift which is very strange since shifts begin at 0800 and 1200GMT.
Moreover there are no editions of World Business Report and I haven't seen any Business presenter so far.

Probably due to it being a Bank Holiday here in Britain today.

Yes it's inconsistant all the time for BBC World viewers, I noticed on the BBC News Broadband Link posted on another thread(it dosen't work now), that they took a clear W/S feed of the World set, now what was really interesting was the fact that only astons generated by Big Ted popped up, everything TOG driven including the BBC World News titles just didn't pop up at all!

I see that Mishal Hussein is back on BBC World after having her baby. I wonder if she is back permanently, or just as a short-term stop gap.

Also, has anyone seen James Ruben presenting HardTalk? What do you think of him? Is he the new permanent replacement for Sebastian, or are they trying out a pool of presenters? Does James Ruben have a journalistic background?

I think that Zeinab should get it (Sebastian's job). She's very good.

Mishal Husain is just presenting the World Review. I like her but she has always that sad face...
Zeinab Badawi is a great interviewer.

As far as i know James Ruben doesnt have a journalistic background. He was in Bill Clintons government. He's quite good at presenting though.

I know that this question is maybe a bit on the edge, and if I am told so by one of the Moderators, I will retract it.

However, was the aforesaid former BBC Business Reporter (with an Italian sounding name) fired by the BBC for openly participating in this forum, or did he leave of his own free will/was headhunted/contract ended, etc???

Merry Christmas. Is some able to confirm as to whether the headline bed used while the presenter says "This is BBC News from BBC World" is the same as the one used on News 24 to recap the headlines at a quarter past the hour?
If so, does anyone have a copy of it to PM me? Would be most grateful.

Not as far as I know.

Incidentally if you want to be a presenter then it's a good idea to turn up for the programmes on time, especially if the boss is watching. Its also a good idea to ask permission before working for the opposition.

.

Why should they have fired him because of his participation in this forum?
Anyway, I just couldn't stand him.
