What's happened is daytime business presenters on World used to be mostly freelances and were hired as and when.
Having returned from overseas after two-and-a-half years as a correspondent, I have now become the full-time daytime business presenter for BBC World.
Aaron will continue as a freelance filling in as and when. Angela will mostly be reporting, but carry out some anchoring as well. Both have been working on News 24's Interactive service recently. Jane has moved on.
Just to confuse things slightly, I'm away for a fortnight now and Aaron is standing in for me.

Welcome to the forum! It's interesting to hear that the business presenters were mostly freelance -- is that how it's done with the news presenters on World, or are they generally "staff"?

Nice to see you on the forum. I am based in Dubai and know that you were here recently too for a while.
Where is Manisha - haven't seen her for quite some time on World? Also, are Jamie and Sara and Declan all freelancers too, or permanent BBC staff.
John Terrett has also gone.
Anyway, nice to see you on the boards and the weather in Dubai is just starting to cool down to comfortable level too!!

I have to say that it doesn't surprise me at all Tanya being a blast. She looks it. Remember her on Breakfast in the Sophie and Jeremy days when they still sat at a desk and the interaction between them was hilarious.
Excellent presenter too.
Excellent presenter too.

Weird things a'happening down at 'The World Today' - Bundock is nowhere to be seen, Coburn is in for her, Eades does three days a week and Finnagan is in for him and for some reason this morning they were filling like mad at both the half past and end of hour sections.

Adrian would be better there permanently. Sara Coburn is suited to early hours broadcasting anyway. She's been doing it for years.
I notice some unusual camera shots in yesterdays WORLD news, presented by Nik Gowing and Jamie Robertson. The camera was panned just inches above the desk and just below the business presenters plasma, giving an unusal panning view across the desk to Nik who was introducing Jamie. It also gave a truer impression of the actual shape and width of the desk, especially the wooden portion, which we can now see is old fashioned and grainy............
Wonder why they used this particular shot. Normally the introductiisn are done from the other end of the desk where the newsreader sits.
