After four and a half years, the circular lights on the right have finally been turned on! Very Happy

Makes you wonder why they didn't bother previously!

Looks to me, that the set has come further down the newsroom and has got longer, explains why during Sport Today you could see the camera facing the other way!

The set looks nice, but it's a bit too much like News 24, and they should have made the red bit more transparent like News 24's, I think they should have used projector screen like News 24 and made the business and sport presenter stand up, I think it would have at least made the presentation more interesting as it's become poor with the new style of presentation that BBC World have adopted.

You have completly contradicted yourself there mate. You say its too much like News 24 but then go on to say how they should have used a projection screen like News 24, and a transparent front panel on the desk.

An interesting format change there at 09.00 GMT. Instead of going straight into the headlines after the countdown, the camera cut to both Lucy Hockings and Darshini David (business) at the desk, then they played the quarter heads bed while they did a TWT-style introduction ("This is BBC News from BBC World - I'm XXXX, and I'm XXXX - the headlines..."). They then started the TOTH bed while they read the news and business headlines out.

I hope they adopt this style for co-presentation - it would work well.

For the first time in ages all 3 main news sets the BBC use are looking great. News 24 & World are fantastic sets that look very fresh and stylish. Dunno why but white really gives a spacious feel to it all. The only slight thing that lets down the national studio is the backdrop. If it just didnt look quite so fake, it would be great. BBC Washington is the best i have ever seen it. I remember when they only ever used a CSO with a semi live camera shot of the Washington news office and a transparent American flag.

Yes judging from what I have written, it does, let me try again, what I meant to say is the layout of the set looks too much like News 24's, however they should have taken the best aspects of BBC News 24 like the projsrctor screens and presenters standing up, I hope that gives better clarification on what I tried to say originally.

Ah yeah i see what your saying. A stand up area with projection screen would look quite good on World.

Just went downstairs to compare with News 24, News 24's set has a lot more atmosphere and looks more warmer on screen, the backdrop is better and more livier on News 24, while World's feels very icy!

Why do people continue to misrepresent the purpose of BBC World.

'I'm disappointed it looks like News 24'

Anyone who can see News 24 shouldn't be able to watch BBC World and vice versa (except 9:30am weekdays where N24 viewers now have continuity).
So talk of it being boring and undistinctive are irrelevant.

BBC World should be BBC News' cash-cow. Get over it. It should have more adverts- that's better for the UK license fee payer. It should help financially in supporting News 24- the BBC's premier television news offering.

News 24 is far superior as a news channel (to describe World as a rolling-news channel is pushing it with programmes like "holiday" regular features) because it has access to more resources and more money. BBC World should be a money-spinning side operation (that secondarily helps to increase the reputation of the BBC worldwide).

Why not, BBC World has more interesting features for Asian viewers like me in particular Asia Today.

The opening shot of the two presenters introducing themselves and doing the hellos is excellent. Long may that continue. I like that.

But I also wish they did goodbyes in the same way, with wide studio shot plus full music. I hate the short and curt way that they say "stay tuned for hard talk", and then squint into a monitor buried in the desk to ensure that they are definately off-air.

Please bring back the old type of wrap up with theme music.

I also noticed Darshini David and Lindsey Brancher having a right old chat about Man United's potential take over. It added a real nice touch to the bulletin.

I am sure it will all grow on us.

And, did anyone see the closing headlines strap during one of Nik Gowing's bulletins that said "Headlines - Do Not Touch"???

I hope they revert back to the old presentation format but with the new style of opening. That would be wonderful. The headline read "Do not touch"? Haha Laughing

Honestly, it read on screen "Headlines - Do Not Touch".

Agree with your comments w.r.t. opening and closing titles.
