An interesting format change there at 09.00 GMT. Instead of going straight into the headlines after the countdown, the camera cut to both Lucy Hockings and Darshini David (business) at the desk, then they played the quarter heads bed while they did a TWT-style introduction ("This is BBC News from BBC World - I'm XXXX, and I'm XXXX - the headlines..."). They then started the TOTH bed while they read the news and business headlines out.
And its in 30mins! At first thought that there is another "TWT-like" news. But turned out to be a normal bulletin but with two presenters starting the bulletin. Nice. Except the sudden cuts are still there. They cut off the sports presenter... I think I like the studio now, especially the shot when Lucy is speaking to the reporter on the Plasma, the shot is wonderful.
I see that the new desk has a glass top, same as the Washington studio, and hence has monitors buried inside it. The newscasters are just using discreet black keyboards, and not laptops like on N24.
I must say I far prefer the glass tops, as opposed to laptops, which give a cluttered feel to proceedings.
From initial views of the captures above, I must say that the new BBC World set looks far slicker, cleaner, and tidier than N24, which always looks like a total pig sty.
Can't wait to see it first hand tonight on screen.
I must say though, it's a shame they had to change the set. I prefere the old one.
So do I !... I like this set but it's just a fac-simile of the N24 one. I miss the old desk... and this new format has reduced the contact between the presenter and us because the presenter doesn't sign off anymore.
Darshini David looks gorgeous, her eyes and her smile are charming and I loved the way she started talking about the rise of Euro with Lucy Hockings for a whole minute without looking at the camera once...
Haha. Yea, I was thinking "Lucy just asked her a question she replied so much?" And I was expecting at least some eye contact but.. She was there happily chatting away! haha interesting. I like the new set gradually now, but not the format. The earlier format with the new set would make it wonderful! And lucy was just nodding away, if she spoke something would be more enjoyable / entertaining =p

Oh, rolling text, right. Yeah, completely out of place.
