That weather cock-up just a minute ago was great. The weather was interrupted by something like a testcard. Then you could hear Susan Powell singing. This was followed by an apology screen with a nice background music.
But cortomaltese, I already pay EUR. 8,50 per month for my digital subscription so I won't pay even more for certain channels. I hope you can understand that. Besides, I think BBC World should be free to air to the world as for its great journalistic quality and impartial coverage.
You're right BBC World should be free-on-air, but I'd prefer pay and see a BBC World with less advertisement and, by the way, I pay 12€/month to see something like 50 channels... I think that if BBC World wasn't free on air anymore, then I would pay, what, 12,30€/month?...

Haha, yea.. "Here we go again.." or something. Susan Powell was the weather presenter or someone behind the scenes? Was interesting though, seeing the VT clock slowly scrolling down the screen and the prog. breakdown caption came in...

If indeed it were only a couple of cents extra, I wouldn't bother. But I'm afraid other channels will adopt this policy as well. Currently, I'm paying EUR. 8,50 per month for receiving around 85 channels, but when I have to pay for some of these channels seperately, it'll all become more complicated and also more expensive.
for a temp studio, it looks good. usually they put the same background on all the screens like when they were in the national studio, but really i think its good. Hope the new look is good! Hope it is an individual studio, not a total copy of the N24 one

Well I think that the Washington studio make-over points to the new BBC World studio following the News 24 theme.
I see lots of red perspex, frosted glass, 'holo'-screens and a giant lit-up white spaceship of a desk!
I think people should expect a version of N24, perhaps a better version. The BBC probably want their 2 news channels to have similar sets so dont be surprised if it turns out that way
No, the weather bulletin was a pre-recorded one that was being played over and over again, as the test card showed 1230GMT. Don't know how they managed to play the wrong tape.
Susan was reading the weather bulletin, then stumbled on her words, and leaned over to re start the autocue, and at the same time sang
"let's go again.....la lala lala la....".
Probably at the same time as hearing the producer in her ear saying the same thing.
Don't know how they managed to play the wrong tape. Surely that particular one should have been binned earlier.
I have noted that BBCW is getting a little bit better, but is it still somewhat disjointed. Let's give it a few weeks to settle down. I am sure it will grow on us.
why is it that im never watching when the good cock-up happens?? I have seen alot over the past week but not the weather one. I went out 30 minutes before the time it apparently happned and returned only mintes after the bottom of the hour.
anita mcnaught was on one news again live from ramallah.
I just saw BBC WORLD Breakdown ident. Isn't it good? The music was superb but I could capture only a bit of it. I'm trying to find out my radio-to-PC wire at the moment!
