It gives viewers the uncomfortable feeling that commercial breaks are more important than news, which is horrible! All this doesn't fit the BBC at all.
I agree, but at the same time World does need to make money instead of losing it. Someone earlier mentioned that the computer system handling the channel's output was playing up when it moved into its new home over the weekend - broadcast center. I think they should limit a bulletin to 2 commercial breaks. Hopefully, with the set debut and these errors fixed, things will settle down by next week.
Off course BBC World has to make profits, but I find it rather strange that this suddenly has to be done now. SInce its start, BBC World suffered financial losses so why this heavy increase of commercials?
Well, here in Italy BBC World is a free-on-air channel and I suppose that's the same all over the world... so, if they want to make some money why don't they make us pay as the other news channels like CNN and Skynews do? I would be glad to pay to see BBC World, but the BBC World as it used to be, with no more than 4/5 minutes of advertisement per hour.
By the way, I hate the newsbar, it's useless and it destracts me... They tried to put it during every bulletin throughout last May but luckily the stopped doing so by the end of June. And now here we are again...
Nah, we have to subscribe to the channel from our local cable tv provider...
I think someone asked a few pages back for images of what
The World
's set looks from wider angles with the BBC WORLD newsroom background. Obligingly, here are a couple of my trademark dreadful caps, courtesy of my (t)rusty mobile phone.
Incidentally, anyone wishing to see or capture any of the full 90-second countdowns on N24 would do well to watch the junction between the end of The World Today and the beginning of Breakfast on N24 over the next few days.

Well, here in Italy if I gave up the contract with my local cable tv provider i wouldn't be able to watch CNN, Skynews and Foxnews anymore, but i could still watch BBC World.
for a temp studio, it looks good. usually they put the same background on all the screens like when they were in the national studio, but really i think its good. Hope the new look is good! Hope it is an individual studio, not a total copy of the N24 one
But cortomaltese, I already pay EUR. 8,50 per month for my digital subscription so I won't pay even more for certain channels. I hope you can understand that. Besides, I think BBC World should be free to air to the world as for its great journalistic quality and impartial coverage.
The 1600GMT bulletin was quite good, the network stings came in after the presenter ended his / her line, especially during Ms David's business segment [I forgot her name], she ended with "More business news coming soon" or something liddat, then the network sting kicked in. "Coming Up" was also brought back... some improvements now...
