Our local cable company channels come in a group, BBC World, CNN and CNBC Singapore... No SkyNews that's why. Or else, there's our homegrown Channel NewsAsia! Very Happy I think Asa or someone running TV Pres site should be able to help you with this...

Precisely! She was looking at her laptop for a while and was about to speak again and the network sting came in. What is this??? Evil or Very Mad

Marcus, who will inaugurate the new set next week? David Eades, Adrian Finighan or Martine Dennis? (on TWT)

I hope it's Martine and Sally.

Sorry to hear that Anita has left. Guess that's why Kirsty Lang will be spead across more than just The World.

Zeinab was good last night on Hard Talk.

I won't bother posting any comments about the new formats on BBC World News yesterday, as you have all just perfectly summed it up above nicely.

Just to say that I am BBC World's biggest fan. I know the channel inside out, and love it. However, yesterday I had to switch over. The quality of presentation yesterday and cutting everyone off in mid stream was totally abysmal. I had to resort to Sky yesterday to get a proper digest of news.

I will give BBC World a week or two to rectify all of this abysmal stuff, and will give them the benefit of the doubt until they can get it tidied up.

However, yesterdays output was woeful.

I know what you mean...I had difficulty watching BBC World yesterday. The disjointed nature and now basically lack of news was very off-putting. There's approximately 10mins of news, then a break, then business, break, sport, break, headlines and that's it. Where have all the in depth reports, interviews, studio guests, feature reports gone? They've copied CNN in terms of the format, but at least CNN can actually include a decent amount of news!

BBCWorld has replied to me earlier on today and they asked me for contact details of my service provider, which I do not think will be of help as this is experienced worldwide by all forumers here isn't it? I have brought this issue up to them in my reply and let's wait for their reply. This is fast considering that I only sent it this morning...

Yes I also am very annoyed with the new structure of the bulletins. Also someone said earlier that David didnt handle that well and I think that he didnt enjoy it much either.

I have made a log of the 1500GMT Bulletin with Nik Gowing and this is how it goes.
.00 >> Normal Starting titles and headlines.
.11 >> Business News (no sting)
.13 >> They cut off Darshini and her business news to a ad break
.15 >> Break Finishes - Business Briefing Appears then they cut to the Network sting.
.15 >> Main Headlines
.18 >> Break
.20 >> Break finishes News returns half way through a story then the network sting
.22 >> Sport News (no sting)
.25 >> Break
.26 >> Break finihses then the top story.
.27 >> Nik hands over to Rob for the Weather
After the weather its the break filler when that is finished you get...
.30 >> BBC World News Branded Sting then the headlines, for 15 Seconds and we don the the closing news sting. Sad (and they cut Nik off when he was signing off.)

I dont like this new format at all.. Does anybody know where I can get or have the email address of the BBC World News Controller.

And does anyone know when the new set will be aired on World???

This is absolutely 'unwatcheble'! Now I know what some people meant as they spoke about being 'cut off'... That business presenter was telling me something and suddenly they cut her of with a network sting!

This is something that should never happen to a serious news channel! It gives viewers the uncomfortable feeling that commercial breaks are more important than news, which is horrible! All this doesn't fit the BBC at all.

EDIT: 15:27 CET: at the end of World News, David Jessel just sat there after he finished with a reminder of the top story and after a few seconds a large 'BBC NEWS' turned up on screen. Twenty seconds later we end up in the middle of the weather...

I agree, but at the same time World does need to make money instead of losing it. Someone earlier mentioned that the computer system handling the channel's output was playing up when it moved into its new home over the weekend - broadcast center. I think they should limit a bulletin to 2 commercial breaks. Hopefully, with the set debut and these errors fixed, things will settle down by next week.

Off course BBC World has to make profits, but I find it rather strange that this suddenly has to be done now. SInce its start, BBC World suffered financial losses so why this heavy increase of commercials?
