I must say that although I can see where and why the difficulties arose, I'm still not happy with the idea. Three breaks in half an hour is far too much, and it makes the bulletin feel disjointed. The lack of a proper close also looks odd. In terms of presentation fans, it's a disaster. They've stripped the channel of everything bar the titles and one sting! Even the channel idents seem to have disappeared now!

No closing titles, news reminder on the half-hour, a rolling news feel....... so it's now News 24 with (many) breaks? And the set might look just like News 24, complete (as someone else said) with standy-up area for the x:30 summary.

Just think back to the earliest days of this forum....... much lusting after BBC World, much derision of News 24. I certainly never thought there'd be such a polar shift in the opinions on both! Back in 2000 on World, there was a fantastic new graphics and music package, a lovely set, and the big four of Gowing, Finhigan, Cole and Hayton nice and regular*. Ah, days past....

* yes, yes, plenty of fruit and vegetables.

I haven't had much time to watch today, but I don't think we here in Canada are getting any breaks during the news bulletins. (There have NEVER been adverts here on World). It just seems to pause for a moment, then there is this sort of 'jump', like changing channels very quickly and the bulletin continues. I miss the stings and agree that it is very disjointed, especially the 25 sec of headlines at :30. I'm just wondering what they will do during the overnight simulcast with N24, and on The World Today. On the edition from today (Monday), we almost got the UK headlines as well. David came back after the sting and said it was time for the UK news round-up, and started with the first story, when he was abruptly cut off by the breakfiller. It looked really bad, and I can bet a lot of viewers were probably like "Huh?", as they don't understand that World isn't supposed to show the UK headlines.

Well we can only hope with the new set and everything, it's get a lot better, but it's fair to say the people at the top and gone and wrecked BBC World presentation, and this is very sad indeed, if this arrangement continues, but let's not jump to conclusions!

Yes I also am very annoyed with the new structure of the bulletins. Also someone said earlier that David didnt handle that well and I think that he didnt enjoy it much either.

I have made a log of the 1500GMT Bulletin with Nik Gowing and this is how it goes.
.00 >> Normal Starting titles and headlines.
.11 >> Business News (no sting)
.13 >> They cut off Darshini and her business news to a ad break
.15 >> Break Finishes - Business Briefing Appears then they cut to the Network sting.
.15 >> Main Headlines
.18 >> Break
.20 >> Break finishes News returns half way through a story then the network sting
.22 >> Sport News (no sting)
.25 >> Break
.26 >> Break finihses then the top story.
.27 >> Nik hands over to Rob for the Weather
After the weather its the break filler when that is finished you get...
.30 >> BBC World News Branded Sting then the headlines, for 15 Seconds and we don the the closing news sting. Sad (and they cut Nik off when he was signing off.)

I dont like this new format at all.. Does anybody know where I can get or have the email address of the BBC World News Controller.

And does anyone know when the new set will be aired on World???

I can confirm due to email communication with TVNZs head of News & Current Affairs that Anita McNaught has now returned to ONE News as their Middle East Correspondent and she has just finished a report from Ramallah on the 6pm News. But I am not sure if she has left the BBC, maybe itsrobert or Marcus can confirm this.

Sorry to hear that Anita has left. Guess that's why Kirsty Lang will be spead across more than just The World.

Zeinab was good last night on Hard Talk.

I won't bother posting any comments about the new formats on BBC World News yesterday, as you have all just perfectly summed it up above nicely.

Just to say that I am BBC World's biggest fan. I know the channel inside out, and love it. However, yesterday I had to switch over. The quality of presentation yesterday and cutting everyone off in mid stream was totally abysmal. I had to resort to Sky yesterday to get a proper digest of news.

I will give BBC World a week or two to rectify all of this abysmal stuff, and will give them the benefit of the doubt until they can get it tidied up.

However, yesterdays output was woeful.

Me too, but very much a temporary thing. I will dip in to World from time to time to see how it is coming along. Won't be long before they are once again delivering the best news around.

(It was nice to actually see Manisha Tank presenting the news headlines though. It seemed oddly bizarre, but got me thinking, maybe she should graduate onto full time news presentation just like Adrian Finighan and Mishal Hussain have done - both of them former presenters on the WBR. If Anita McNaught HAS actually left BBC, then there is a spare news presenter slot for Manisha................)

Here in New Zealand we have a pay tv company called 'Sky TV or SKY Digital Satillite Televison' and we get the option of There International News Channels they are.. 'SKY NEWS Australia/New Zealand' (not sky news uk) - BBC World - and CNN. I dont like CNN very much because Im not a fan of the way they handle there presentation but I think SKY News Aust/NZ is the best at the moment so I'm giving BBC World a chance for today but if it was like yesterday then Im off it till they sort themselves out.

But you probably cant be ONE NEWS here in NZ i wish a could post a video of one of their news hours because the are very professional they have a great set and a great set of music and presentation is great too. As you can see with my signature I am obsessed with ONE NEWS.

If anyone knows how I can post a videoand get a video of the news hour I would like to know. because one news is very high quality and it would be good to show the world what they are like. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
