Ummmm well considering the old set has been gutted... I can honestly say that it will be more than "a new screen or just a new metal 'fencing' " - trust me....

Wow, I am getting excited about the new set. But is anyone sure enough to confirm that there is really a new set coming? I don't wanna see a new screen or just a new metal 'fencing' behind you see.

Wow! Did you just see the World's News Desk? It resembles the one at the National Sudio. Moreover, the studio has become brighter. Adrian is presenting very well, isn't he? But why are they using the News24's red titles? Also, there was a mistake during the start of the news : the titles played twice, one after the other!

Yes, they seem to be using the same set that is used for the BBC National News and HardTalk, or at least the same desk anyway. However, the opening and closing shots are far more closely cropped than the panoramic views used on the national bulletins, and the World newsroom is being projected onto the walls, as opposed to the image used on Network.
Adrian IS doing very well today, despite the cock-ups at the opening of the bulletin, when silent titles were partially played again!
I like Lyse - it makes sense for her to be Ramallah just now, where I guess she will anchor World News from if there is breaking news on Arafat. Shows great flexibility in being in the studio and out in the field - Lyse is very good at both.
Is it still expected that World and N24 will simulcast at certain points today, especially when Network needs their studio back?

Just caught another two bulletins with Adrian on World - a full length one and a short one. There seems to be some technical issues this morning. As well as the intro errors mentioned above, Adrian seems to be struggling this morning with excessive distractions in his ear. He has been slowing down delivery to almost a halt at some points, whilst racing incredibly through other areas of the bulletin. I know that this is all part of the skill in everyday newscasting, but its as though they are having problems today in lining up VT or something. However, Mr. Finighan has coped - as ever - like the consumate professional he is!!
((Slightly off topic, but related to Lyse Doucet's mobilisation to the West Bank, Just caught a glimpse of early morning CNN in Ramallah. Just as BBC World have done in dispatching Lyse Doucet as senior anchor to the region to cover breaking news on Mr. Arafat, CNN have sent Michael Holmes to cover it for CNNI. Fiounulla Sweeney is amongst their people in Paris too.))

Didn't you all like the old newsroom? I think it was terrific, the desk in particular...

Hum...I wondered if the whole newsroom is going to be similar to news 24 (projectors, multiscreens, frosted screens, etc)

why would you like it to be the same as news 24's? then there is nothing to look foreword to! I would like a newsroom like News 24's but more areas to present unlike enws 24 (ie, using the newsroom in the background! That would be cool

We are definately having problems today with World's presentation. Mike Embley has just kicked off a bulletin at 1600hrs London time, and the title music cut off after the first few bars and then rolled again from the very beginning. Then the caption delayed cutting to studio at the end of the second false start, and we had a slightly longer view of the newsdesk than normal, before Mike's camera 1 eventually kicked in.
Similar to the problems Adrian had at start up this morning too.
BTW, Mike's had a busy week, has he not!!!! Where are Lucy, Anya and Anita today? Assume we will see one of them later on tonight on BBCW. Adrian was also on air today for six or seven bulletins. That's a lot more than normal.
Still, very easy to watch.......

You're right. Even at 4.00 GMT, there was a problem with the titles being generated. The Video wasn't shown while the music was played and after the title's music got over, the whole thing got played for a second time with the video! My, my! What's wrong??? Mike Embley, looked frustrated.
