The World News Today promo, though, shows a very old-fashioned sting, just like TWT's one. I hoped they would develop some interesting new graphics for their new programme.

THat would be cool. But I can't watch BBC World on a daily basis, because I live in america, but I can watch it on PBS everyday, and on BBC AMerica.

Edit:
By old sting, do you mean the orangey globe. I ike that better b/c it is less sinister than the Red and Black.

Another recorded bulletin at 10:00 GMT.

Regarding this new programme with George 'Alligator': in a recent promotional piece, he talked about the contents of 'The world today'. It will contain news, business, SPORTS, comment analysis...

It's obvious a lot of British people are interested (it not obsessed) by sports. Sky News has a ten minute block of sports news every hour at :20. CNN International though, hasn't so there much more time for REAL news (and commercial breaks). Now, 'The world today' will be aimed especially at an American audiance. First: would Americans appreciate the large percentage of sports news and secondly: would they not turn off their screens if this segment is filled with (typical British) games like cricket, rugby and soccer?

I do not understand why BBC World uses airtime for those sports anyway. Not the whole world is interested in them! Far from it! Is it really necessary to have a sports round-up in (nearly) every bulletin?

I'm not a frequent CNN viewer but seems to me that CNN shows several 30 mins editions of "World Sport" every day and has got some sport round-ups during some programmes such as Your World Today.
I'm not a huge fan of sport news but I'm sure plenty of people are interested in it.
I guess World News Today will have a sport round-up just like The World Today. It is also likely that the major US and East Asia sports (I'm thinking at baseball, for example) will be particularly relevant.
But we'll just have to wait and see.

So what's the deal? Is a revamp in our midst? I'm surprised we didn't know that it was coming.

Hi all, I was just wondering what BBC News Extra was? We don't have it in the UK and I was slightly curious.

A more in-depth look at some of the world's main stories for viewers in Europe and America. Asia got either Asia Today or Asia Business Report.

A Little like "The World Today" i guess then?

I hate the use of the word sports . It's SPORT singular, not sports plural. BBC Sport, Sport Relief etc - not BBC Sports, Sports Relief. Yes, there is Sky Sports, but that's because they're owned by an Americanicised Aussie!

Surely you're talking about several sports though, not just one umbrella sport?

Doest it really matter anyway, that's a very anal post.
