Does Martine regularly do shifts at weekends or was this morning a one-off?

IMO she's quite good.

And during the 0900GMT bulletin they quoted David Eades as Berlin Correspondant, reporting for the World Cup? Is this temporary. And whats all this rubbish about Angola?

Martine Dennis is seldom seen on week-ends.
As to David Eades he's in Berlin just for World Cup coverage, in fact he always covers the main sport events around the world

Am I the only one to notice the countdown has changed? It's now (finally) in sync again, and has been cropped to 14:9.

Matthew Price, amongst others, has been redeployed as a World Cup Correspondent.

I'm guessing that Matthew Price has been redeployed as he can be used on Newsround and across BBC News output.

They are broadcasting the one that ends in Beijing's Red Square (I think) which has been seldom shown up to now.

Has the 4:3 image been chopped down to 14:9 or are they actually cropping the original 16:9 version of the countdown to 14:9 like the news? BBC World might be getting ready to go 16:9 outright since it is fully digital now.

Why don't they stick to 4:3, I guess there will be a time when more people in the globe will have HD, then BBC World may think widescreen, before that they need to sort out their presentation and the lighting on the other side of the main BBC World set, it's way too dark!

it just looks silly as is presenting the news in 14:9, it's a nothing format, no viewer in the world sees the advantages, so why BBC World continue to show it in 14:9, defies belief!

What's funniest is if they go tits up, and they switch to a recorded bulletin which is cropped so all you can see is the presenter's nose.

The bulletins I've seen on these last few days have been really great: exremely good pace, very good reports and interviews (many of them with more than one guest) and no tech faults.
Plus, I really appreciate these Embley-Dobbie afternoons: I know it's almost impossible to find a below-average presenter on BBC World, but they are both excellent.
