Why? Because the staff working in the busy gallery forgot to send a message to the IT guys to put up a break caption instead of the studio feed?

I think it's good, as it shows newsreaders are actually human and do have other voices besides their authoritarian or poor newsreading voices.

Not shambolic at all.

Agree 100% whay Lyse was saying is actually the truth it won't end the reign of terror.

Absoletly shambolic episode.

Things are not good, to say the least.

whilst it was interesting and I do enjoy watching what happens behind the scenes I don't think it's 'good'. It looks unprofessional to show the feed when adverts etc. are supposed to be on. What if they'd said something libellous or expressed an opinion on the news that directly before the bulletin? It's not the best thing for the BBC's image.

Most journalists know that they're in an "anything can happen" industry - going back to the studio, etc. so they'll (in most cases) usually be on their guard.

Thanks Hymagumba and Matrix for the explanation. I presume the news stream from N9 isn't permanent? Wasn't it just for today?

That's what I love about feeds, you always find out what the presenter is really thinking Wink

It was the rehersal that you could hear. Presenters, and other gallery staff will often question headlines at rehersal. You just never normally see it.

It would be equally unprofessional to libel someone in a studio that you thought wasn't on-air... One of the most important rules any broadcaster learns on their first day is that you should always assume every mic is live, and thus not say anything near a microphone you wouldn't want broadcast.

It isn't at all unusual for a presenter to rehearse headlines and question whether they are correct, or to comment on an element of the programme during a break.

Someone like Lyse is a first-rate journalist - not an "autocue to speech converter"...

I don't think its nessesary for BBC World to be using a shortend World Cup sting as the Breakbumper.

Do BBC World still use a breakbumper or even BBC Prime?

It's rather annoying actually, also because the sting is not particularly attractive... Not as horrible as the "emerging giants" one though, that was the worst one could ever see.

Does Martine regularly do shifts at weekends or was this morning a one-off?

IMO she's quite good.

And during the 0900GMT bulletin they quoted David Eades as Berlin Correspondant, reporting for the World Cup? Is this temporary. And whats all this rubbish about Angola?

The World Cup is been covered heavily by BBC News and Sport. Matthew Price, amongst others, has been redeployed as a World Cup Correspondent.
