Hello, after many months, ive actually added stuff to the BBC World section of NZTVPres.info ... you an view caps caps and more caps from here Clicky!! and in the coming weeks there will be videos.

Chur.

Thanks for that - very interesting as someone who doesn't get to see World that often.

Couple of questions/comments...

What's the 'News Update' slug for on this picture - on News 24 they use the main strap for this, like for Breaking News.

I like the Asia Today logo used here - very subtle:

Just as a bit of background, both of those features have been in use for a very long time. The 'NEWS UPDATE' slug has been in use since day one of the current look (or at least as far back as i can remember of the current furniture), and that Asia Today inset has been in use for many, many months - quite possibly since BBC World got its current set in fact.

I would imagine that the 'NEWS UPDATE' slug is used as World doesn't have the same 'commitment' to rolling news that N24 has, and therefore the 'BREAKING NEWS'-type scroll/swap animation used on N24 for News Updates is less necessary for World.

As a personal opinion, I think that the Asia Today inset is very nice - it reminds me a little of the frosted glass seperation on the

logo used during the latter stages of the flags era. My sole gripe with it is that it just used the red/white colouring for standard bulletins rather drawing on the colour palette established in the Asia Today titles. The dedicated Asia Today supers with their unique designs are perhaps enough to keep a bit of consistency throughout the programme.

The 'NEWS UPDATE' is always on the screen there when they are live on the phone to somebody!

The Asia Today inset is just a bit of white and translucent black, along with some judicuous camera positioning. Quite nicely done, really.

AFAIK the "NEWS UPDATE" aston is always used when a live interview is repeated. The "NEWS UPDATE" aston is there to overlay the "LIVE" aston.

They're streaming this on the web at the moment - never seen World streamed via News Online before, usually N24.

Are N24 simulcasting World or doing their own stuff?

EDIT: Frank Gardner "live" on both Five Live and BBC World at the moment - how they doing that?

I notice you just get the newsroom instead of the advert break on the stream at 11 and half past so you got to see the rehearsals etc. They've put up a slide now though...

Why do they not use the proper breakfiller? They currently have a caption and keep playing the theme to The World
