Oh, Lucy Lucy Lucy Lucy..............what are we going to do with you??????

For a reason that I cannot even begin to explain, and I don't know why, but Ms Hockings is just NOT suited to being the anchor of the Pioneer Bulletin of the day..........there is a loudness, or something, that renders her out of place on The World Today.

Yes, I like Lucy Hockings, and I have grown to like her presentation style, but I prefer someone else on The World Today.

I know this post is probably a waste of time because I am not explaining myself properly, but that's the best I can do.

It's like watching Breakfast on BBC News, and having Carol Vorderman at the Newsdesk instead of Moira. Carol is an exceedingly clever and capable person, but she just ain't suited to Newsdesk.........oh damn it. I can't get my point across.

I actually like waking up with Lucy Hockings, much more than with David Eades. I like her: good-looking, nice voice and presentation style and she's quite a good presenter in my opinion...
Other presenters might do better (Mike Embley did the early morning stint ages ago and was brilliant) but Lucy is doing good too.

I agree, but seeing Lucy presenting last Fridayafternoon, I must say you get to see her a lot more often (news extra and asia today), and I would like to see Zeinab Badawi presenting in the morning for a change.

I think Tim Sebastian has lost the plot altogether! Did anyone see his "grilling" of UN Atomic Energy Chief, Mohammed el Baradei during the Doha debates today?

For Christ sake - the man (Commissioner) is a Nobel Recipient, and an excellent example in his field. Yet, despite the programme being billed as a chance for local students to ask him about his work, Sebastian went to town on him, treating him extremely shoddily, accused him of not knowing what he was talking about and continually interrupted the gentleman's responses to his (Tim's) badly put questions!!

BBC and Qatar Foundation - this guy is past his sell-by date and it's an embarrassment to watch him any more. Gone are the days of credible interviewing. He must remember that he is no longer presenting HardTalk, and to treat emminent guests int he way that he did today is shocking.

I agree on the fact Tim Sebastian's approach to his guests can be sometimes annoying (I don't like when he keeps interrupting people), yet I love watching his interviews. His style might be tough and perhaps even arrogant but the result is great: serious and high-paced interviews which always focus on the key points of the discussed issue.
I'm really intrigued by the Doha Debates, which are in my opinion the best programme BBC World currently offers.

Peter Dobbie has had a very long week!, it's good to see him so often.

For those who saw Robert Kilroy Silk's short lived political career you'd know there was a documentory filmed about his time and on camera the audience is treated to a very nice shot of Tim slamming the door in the teams face, what they left out however was his barrage of abuse towards the programmes researcher and one cameraman (from the doc crew) who didn't move fast enough.

Vile little man and I'm frankly amazed he lasted so long on Hardtalk. As for his questions let me just illustrate a prime example. Speaking to some, as this was some time ago, American diplomat opposed to the invasion of Iraq he posed this wonderful question: "Is the UN, umm, stupid?... By which I mean to say, stupid not to listen to, umm, the, umm, claims you make" The response came back: "I didn't make any contact with, nor support the administrations stance".

I also seem to remember him growling at Ewan McGregor, a crime in itself!

Dateline London was highly enjoyable yesterday, and the regular French participant was hilarious. Really enjoyed it.

Then Pip (Phillipa) Thomas was on news duty too. All in all, quite a good days broadcasting on World yesterday.......enjoyed it.

At the end of "This Week", I noticed that the producer was Ade Akintowa. Who is he once again? Can anyone enlighten me as to what his name is familiar. Was he ever a reporter?

Yes he was a reporter for sometime, based in the middle east IIRC during the china red era, he has now seemingly moved to producing in London.

Just to remind you guys BBC World will be switching off tomorrow in analogue on 13E, apparantly there is a warning message on the channel already!

From then on BBC World will be a fully digital channel, hopefully this means the channel could possibly go Widescreen Wink

It seems that Mike Embley has finally gone on holiday: he hasn't been presenting for two weeks and tonight Kirsty Lang is doing his shift.
Alastair Yates is now the only tireless presenter.

Actually, LDN, it's how my little niece prounces her (own) name. Her name is also Phillipa, but she cannot say it. She says 'Pip', so it's a family joke, Sorry.

Regarding the actual Phillipa Thomas, she is an excellent presenter actually. I enjoy her delivery and her versatility. If ever she invites me to dinner, I will make sure that you are asked along as well.......

Missing Mike Embley too.
