I've seen a couple of pictures on the internet of BBC World coming from what I think is the BBC National News studio- when did this happen?

The second pic was from around august last year... BBC World spent a weekend in the national studio... not sure why.

Hello Guys,

In actual fact, BBC World spent quite a few weekends in the national studio and also in the "floorspace" now occupied by The World, WBR and Sport Today.

This all occurred when the BBC World Newsroom and Studio was undergoing a revamp into the current look. IIRC, the whole process took around 3 weekends.

Yep they shouldn't have bothered, the backdrop is so boring to look at, all covered with frosty glass, the main presenter shot has no impact at all now.

I never liked that studio and hated when they were using it,but they usually did that when some changes were made to the main studio.

I'd definatly agree that the previous, slip desk look worked a lot better, although I'd argue that was a universal factor across BBC News. I think World still has a lot of work to do to get it's previous status back but they are making some headway

And why don't they have two plasma screens like before? It would be much better if they would do bussines from the main studio like before, and not use that dark studio .

Fully agree with all points, ginnyfan.

I also wish that they would introduce more double headers, to inject a bit of life into some of the bulletins. BBC World is a great channel, but some of our anchors are extremely tedious on their own, and need a prop alongside to bring life to the bulletin.

I won't mention his name, but one presenter on the channel (excellent journalist and very senior too) strikes me as the most boring man around, and his programme presentation style hasn;t altered for years. When I switch on and he is at the newsdesk, I switch over!! (Unless there as BN, in which case I stay..........)

I would say I still prefer this newsroom backdrop. The pillars just compliment the presenter!

Well, BBCWORLD, Alistair Yates? Laughing
