Watching the different DOG's on BBC World, the transparent one has the old size BBC World DOG on it with bbcworld.com, the static red one also hasn't changed the size of the BBC World bit, only the BBC World Tower generated from TOG has changed the sizing of BBC World, talk about making a DOG's dinner out of it, now back in 2000 they only had one DOG right in the top left corner, ahh those were the days
You are obsessed with DOG's, my friend. Agree, however, that the simplistic BBC World that used to appear on the top LHC of the screen was the best use.
By the way, Harshy, how big is the BBC Bureau in Singapore and how many journalists / presenters are based there, and are they all freelance?
Isn't Mr. Charles a very serious-looking newscaster????? However, I really do like his style. I assume that he will become the ad-hoc fill-in presenter in the way that Ben Brown recently was on the channel?
What's happened to Anya Sitaram?
And can anyone confirm that the narrator on African School IS indeed Martine Dennis? Her voice (or whoever's voice) is far too soft and sickly for this documentary.
Manisha Tank is now back in London, but doing the daytime Biz Slot, as opposed to the evening one she used to do (which is still being presented by Dharshini David).
Yeah. Thats how its staying for the next few months at least...
Please enlighten us, Jamej? I always thought that Manisha Tank was more widely recognised by the evening audience, and Dharshini vice versa by the daytime audience.
Why the change?
Manisha was on the early WBR this morning during The World Today.
Why doesn't Dharshini on Manisha replace Julia on News 24? I just can't like Julia.
I think Manisha just fancies a change - thats why she went to the US to replace Tanya - now, for the next few months at least, she'll be doing the TWT and daytime shifts...

I don't know to tell the truth, maybe when I go Singapore one day I can tell you

The fact that they are using Pip Thomas today would suggest that they are trying out new fill-in anchors, and not just Jonathan Charles, as per my previous post.
I have to say, I do quite like Pip. She has been with the BBC for ages and has anchored loads of outside broadcast major stories. (She forgot to look towards the plasma though, when she was doing a two way with Matthew Price.)
Phillipa Thomas has done News 24 for many years now. I remember a few years back when she and Gavin Esler/David Eades did the 7-11 slot. This was, IIRC, when Gavin Esler went to Newsnight and before Louise Minchin jumped ships from Five Live (she was doing Drivetime I seem to recall) and before she gave birth to her baby.
Then Eades went to BBC World and Philippa went back to being Special Correspondent - something I think Anita McVeigh filled in doing for a little while whilst Philippa was studio based.
She did a lot of Washington based News Specials that went out on BBC World and BBC News 24 after the 9/11 attacks, anchoring from the White House view.
Her style did take getting used to, though - autocue was not her strong point.
Watching Sarah Montague (from BBC Radio 4's "Today") just now on HardTalk made me realise something - I wonder why they don't get Humphrys to do the odd HardTalk. Wouldn't he be quite good?
I don't really like SS as main presenter. Can't get used to him for some reason.
World leading tonight with what they are calling "a once in a century story" - the start of evolution, following the discovery of a fossil which is termed the "missing link" - the evidence of the first sea creature that left the sea to inhabit the land 375 million years ago, and hence evolution commenced.
