I feel sorry for Mrs Embley. She is definately a "news widow", in the same way that many other women are golf widows!!!

Does this man enjoy working seven days a week? Not that I'm complaining, because he is by far the best thing on BBC World at the moment.

James how very considerate of you. I'm more concerned at this present time for Mr Willcox's love life though...

He is clearly in love with his earpiece and the auto-cue......I also heard that he is a genuinely nice guy and not one of those (Little Britain Sebastian-esque) divas who lurk around the newsroom(s) too. (Not that I am suggesting anything whatsoever about anyone anywhere, you understand.........

......now back to BBC World:

"Around the Clock and Around the World, this is the News from BBC World. My name is Adrian Finighan. Good to have you with us" is the best intro that I ever heard, although I think it was delivered more by accident than plan.

Was it during the previous 'style' of BBC News whereby the greetings are after the titles? Cause I dont think such long lines would fit into the beat of the headlines bed! Laughing

Yes, during the early days of the cream and red styling (or the Strawberries and Cream look, as my sister called it.......)

Don't like the new ticker at all - the colours are a real strain for me to watch continuously. Preferred the old pale blue ticker that we had.

Otherwise, the other minor "tweaks" are fine, Yaloh.

Just re-introduce the whole original 2004 package (except perhaps for the countdown music) and it all makes sense again. I mean: look at these new tweaks: the black and white now make the whole thing look like formula1 graphics!

Back in the old days, the orange made sense as it came back on several occasions: in the title sequence, COMING UP graphics, break filler, announcement screen ("Now on BBC World..."), geographical maps, breaking news sting, etc.

Now it's just an incompetent (that black and white is stolen from CNN, right?), ugly, inconsistent error.

By the way: I really thought there was an error when I first saw the latest failure on BBC World...

How are black and white inconsistent with what went before? The current graphics started off with red and white as the main colours with black accents - most notably on the name and information lines of the main supers and on the location bug. Then the grey maps were introduced - grey is halfway between black and white, and indeed the sea on the map is a very dark grey, while much of the text is white.

I'm lost as to how you can suggest that black and white are inconsistent with the look given that both black and white have been present since December 2003. If anything's inconsistent, it's the stupid blue ticker background that looked out of place from day one.

The orange lives on, but now as an accent colour rather than the primary focus. There are shades of orange and gold in the News 24 Tonight branding (the background of which features on many shared full screen graphics), highlighted territories on geographical maps, and on some feature graphics, as well on channel branding, and some elements like the breaking news PIDLE.

Anyone noticed the usage of a more slanted angle of the map over Baghdad? It looks like those you see in Google Earth with the 'universe' out there in darkness.

I love the changes they made especially the bigger logo.
One thing I don't like about the new studio is theat when ever they have guests you can see their legs because they sit tham in front of the plasma.

Nice Tower, the ticker is OK(I think it's a bit different from News 24, it's not 3D)

iI don't like the thin headline font, I prefer the thicker one, I thought they would take the opportunity to change the main BBC World titles but it still remains the same for now.

Looks like you're never going to get over that issue don't you?

The average viewer won't have noticed any of the above, frankly, save perhaps be mildly aware of the ticker change.

Still not liking the ticker at all. It's too "full on" for me and the white is too "Daz Ultra" - perhaps its just the feed or quality that I am getting in my region.

However, that aside, I continued to notice yesterday that the whole presentation aspect of World continues to be tidier, neater and a whole lot better actually. The several cock ups that we used to get (especially the opts) have all but gone. This may be entirely coincidental, but it certainly has made a difference.

Anchors - well, no surprises for guessing who World have dispatched out to cover the Israeli elections?? I guess that it just would not have been the same (probably for the locals too) for such a big local story to take place without her!!

Well I guess it was inevitable, but BBC World have adopted the new look graphic changes that News 24 introduced a few weeks ago.

For those who are not familiar with the changes:
- A New look white ticker with black writing
- A slight change to the Tower with a larger BBC logo
- The font on the headline strap is thinner

Overall, I like the changes as the graphics seem a lot clearer now and fir in with the BBC news colours better than the green and blue.

I like the change, the tower looks fine, although they havent changed the watermark logo.

And nothing to do with her being a specialist in Middle Eastern Affairs?
