Sir Willcox wins hands down in terms of the amount of time he spends in work - he covers varying shifts at all times of day and night and I counted 15 days at one stage in February without a day off. They'd be lost without him.

During Dateline London you always see Tim Wilcox wandering around in the background in the newsroom... everyweek when i see dateline london, i see him walk past in the background! Last week he was walking with what looks like a woman!

My goodness - are News 24 employing women?

Yes yes! I just saw another walk past!!

Jonathan Charles is doing the news this afternoon, he's very good, and the only thing that moves is his mouth, unlike some other newsreaders who love to move all over the place when reading.

Yes, it's a surefire bet that you can see him lurking in the newsroom; he hasn't got much to do during that hour, just a news summary at the top and bottom, so plenty of time for wandering around in the newsroom in between

I think Jonathan Charles got a bit confused with his introduction!

"This is Jonathan Charles with BBC News from BBC World; the headlines" lol

how's that confusing, Damo? it's just a variation from the normal, bland "This is BBC News from BBC World. I'm [My name's Mike Embley] xxx , the headlines:".

Yea, just that he's a little slow hence could not keep up with the beat. Very Happy

I feel sorry for Mrs Embley. She is definately a "news widow", in the same way that many other women are golf widows!!!

Does this man enjoy working seven days a week? Not that I'm complaining, because he is by far the best thing on BBC World at the moment.

James how very considerate of you. I'm more concerned at this present time for Mr Willcox's love life though...

He is clearly in love with his earpiece and the auto-cue......I also heard that he is a genuinely nice guy and not one of those (Little Britain Sebastian-esque) divas who lurk around the newsroom(s) too. (Not that I am suggesting anything whatsoever about anyone anywhere, you understand.........

......now back to BBC World:

"Around the Clock and Around the World, this is the News from BBC World. My name is Adrian Finighan. Good to have you with us" is the best intro that I ever heard, although I think it was delivered more by accident than plan.

all new Phil
Back in the days when I did some obscure radio news programme at uni, I had the *best* intro ever, even better than that..

"We travel to all four corners of the world, and even the secret fifth one that noone knows about, to bring you the VERY LATEST news" or words to that effect.

I'd like to hear that on BBC World.

Well I guess it was inevitable, but BBC World have adopted the new look graphic changes that News 24 introduced a few weeks ago.

For those who are not familiar with the changes:
- A New look white ticker with black writing
- A slight change to the Tower with a larger BBC logo
- The font on the headline strap is thinner

Overall, I like the changes as the graphics seem a lot clearer now and fir in with the BBC news colours better than the green and blue.

Was it during the previous 'style' of BBC News whereby the greetings are after the titles? Cause I dont think such long lines would fit into the beat of the headlines bed! Laughing
