That's indeed correct. Janet Barrie used to share the overnight slots with Jane Hill, back in the flags era. The other regular duty presenter was Samira Ahmed, now seen at ITN C4.
Janet Barrie did a fine job today - a bit of an old hand, in actual fact.
Joel - Nisha did Newsnight during 2001/2002 for several months, but only twice a week, IIRC.

Ahh, thank you my dear chappie. I trust all is well in James land...
Anyway, nice to see Peter on Word and Janet was very good in her role and a very nice surprise. Both would be excellent addittions and if ruour is to be beleived could these be the face of things to come?
Those two shots above were taken at 0600 and 0630 London time on the same day. Hence, Janet Barrie is wearing the same outfit. (I assume that's what you were referring to, as opposed to the naffness of it generally???? LOL)
Joel,
Things are a bit strange right now in James Land. I will email you.
Speaking of Kirsty Lang, she is on The World Today this morning, alongside Sally Bundock. She (KL) completely forgot what programme she was on and clearly struggled to remember what to say at the top of the programme. For a second, I though SB was going to burst in and do the intro!!! LOL. Thereafter, the programme actually flowed quite well and was quite good.

Classic! I used to be able to watch TWT and it was certainly one of the most interesting bulletins. Kirsty does have a funny presentation style, she was on The World not so long along and seemed to be straining to see the autocue followed not to later by a lapse in the headlines... as the saying goes, Muck Happens. (although, it's funny when it does...)

Aah...to be honest, TWT isn't the same without Martine Dennis and Tanya Beckett. It used to be great.

Aye they were the days...
I always thought the 01 Sept 12 special was when TWT was at it's peak. I remember been in bed at 5 and have a shiver run down my spine with the music and very, very sombre tones. Still, it does have one of the best introduction sequences on BBC News at the moment.

The TWT special open and closing music from 2001 was fantastic. I think that's one of, if not the, best David Lowe tracks of all time.
I agree with you that TWT was at its best between 2001 and the 2003 re-launch. Martine Dennis and Tanya Beckett were a great team and it felt like a proper programme. Since Martine and Tanya left and they keep swapping presenters, I rarely tune in anymore.
