The BBC and the title producers are indispute, from what I've heard, hence the failure of any change and as for the end titles, well that's an *idea* in the Tracy Emmite sense of the word.

It's a long running dispute, in the mean while it still says BBC News from BBC World in the short bulletins with the orange globe, then when they use TOG, it says BBC World from BBC News, a bit of a mess really shown around the world!

But no one cares anyway now, as we all love News 24! Wink

I'm laughing as I post this. The irony of the whole situation, less than a year or so ago it was N24 which seemed to need some touches now world's gone to the dogs...Who'd of thought.

Amazing how two years can make such a difference Wink

BBC World is doing far better that it was two years ago. It is selling a lot more advertising and is watched by many more viewers.

As I said earlier that's all that counts at the end of the day, shame the pres has gone to the dogs, but I am glad BBC World is doing a lot better!

ive been in jamaica for a couple of weeks, and in the hotel rooms, i got to see bbc world, and i must admit that the BBC World from BBC News, BBC News from BBC World thing is very confusing. You dont have CNN with this problem. Also, on the News 24 Tonight issue, im sure that there are UK residents who when abroad would like to have some UK news. On that subject, i stayed in a couple of hotels, and in one hotel, there would be breaks in thr programme, and in another hotel, after the coming up bit, would continue, most of the time with a human interest story, or a UK-centric story. Why the differences, anyone?

Really depends upon what audience it's been broadcast to. You'll notice there is a short pause to allow for "regional" opt outs, by regional I mean area's which can then show their own ads, for example on the overnight service BBC News will continue with a "light" story meanwhile Asia will carry breaks and ads. Nothing's missed as viewers rejoin for the headlines after the interest stories.

News 24 Tonight been simulacast would be enitrely the wrong move, the channels have to completely different mentalities and BBC World is not simply a holiday makers channel, it's viewed in some parts of the world as a major player, rivaling the likes of CNNi there again in others the words BBC World are somewhat wasted..

How does BBC World fair against CNN International, to me CNN International looks a lot more professional and slick then BBC World which looks disjointed!

Well, from a graphic point of view BBC World is much better. CNN graphics look rather old...

The only real problem I have with BBC World is that bloody breakfiller. It's ALWAYS on! Now CNN do not have this problem.

Surely in its place BBC World could show promos like they used to? Can't say I've seen a promo for programmes on BBC World for AGES! They're cheap to make and can be ran all the time! After all, they are in the bloody breakfiller as it is!

Well, the breakfiller is not that bad, particularly because when they make a promo for some special programme or event they always look so bad that they make me wanna switch off the tv and they always put that awful red ident at the end... At least with the breakfiller you have nice music and always something that could be interesting on the screen (time zones, weather, markets...)

Well technically the current breakfiller is the best, my personal fav is the 2000 breakfiller, although it used to look awful when it went wrong!

My point being - is there any real NEED for a breakfiller? The text things are different, admittely, but easily could be done in a 15 second full screen graphic, like a promo...leaving time for regions to opt in and out whenever they like, as they do now on a 15 second basis?

Breakfiller work two fold. One they further promote the channel and up and coming programmes and secondly allow for regions not taking adverts not to simply fall off the air for 2 minutes. It's worth remembering that wherever possible BBC World will sell slots but when this cannot happen a breakfiller, hence the name, will be used.

Personally, I quite like the various versions although I have to side with Hardshy, generally the whole 00-02 package was fantastic!

Yeah, can agree with that - just find the whole breakfiller a little 'stale' if you know what I mean and would find promos more interesting - even they would give regions the opportunity to opt in and out when they have ads.

But hey, it'll never happen...
