Why with Justin?!
Not sure but guessing I'd say either technical or the US Mining story.
If I remember correctly, isn't there a bulletin at 11pm GMT on BBC World and BBC America that is a joint presentation with one presenter in London and one presenter in Washington? I'm sure someone will correct me.
And also, I believe that Katty Kay who normally presents from Washington has recently gone on maternity leave, and that Justin Webb has taken over the presenting duties for a while.

That does sound right, although I'm slightly confused now (No! I know, I was once blonde..) but was there a simucast with N24?
The Washington/ London set up is normal.

DV
Midnight GMT - Justin Webb in Washington, Nik Gowing in London (BBC World studio) - presumably being simulcast on World and N24.

Why was Alastair Yates replaced? Is he covering the story for N24 or other BBC channels? I mean, I know Nik Gowing covers the main stories, he presented on September 11, on the day of the Tsunami and he is now back in the newsroom because of PM Sharon's conditions, but I don't think Mr Yates needs to be replaced...
TV
or Mr Dobbie.
They are probably sitting in the tea bar together moaning about the decisions of BBC management

My God! I know Nik Gowing is the main presenter on BBCWorld and I admit he is great on such occasions, when the newsroom is full of guests and there are lots of correspondents to talk to, but Alastair Yates is one of the most skilled presenter the channel has and probably one of the longest-serving. He wouldn't have had any problem in handling the situation.

Well, he's back: it's Alastair Yates who will follow the story through the night... Oddly brief appearance for Nik Gowing, just an hour and a half.

Why? For all you know there might have been a computer fault, meaning they can't access the astons. It's happened a few times before with 5 "Do not touch" on the main astons. Remember, it's not always the workman!
