Has BBC World got some new equipment or have they learnt how to ues it properly?
Because for the first time since Dec 2003 I actually heard the countdown fading in to the headline bed, and there was no pause when at all when it changed from countdown to Mike in the set.
Yeah, but the countdown is awfully out od synch and the breakfiller rareky fade away properly before the countdown begins.

Oh yeh I was gonna mention the out of sync countdown. Its about half a second out of sync.
I too was surprised to see Daljit Dhaliwal turn up just now on BBC World, although she did turn in a good performnace alongside Alastair Yates in London.
I am not so much a fan of Daljit normally, but I did enjoy the current bulletin. She reminded me very much of Julia Somerville in terms of posture, composure and pronunciation. And hey, if that's the case, she can't be that bad!!!!
Also like the way they introduce Breaking News now, with the globe graphic sweeping up from the bottom of the screen, minus the usual "swoosh" noise that Sky has! Saw it during one of Adrian's bulletins yesterday..........
I am presently in Colombo, Sr Lanka, and the version of BBC World shown here is far cleaner and less guddled than the Mid East version - opt outs handled far more professionally than Orbit in Dubai.
I am also watching Zeinab Badawi presenting Asia Today - Weekend Edition right now. Is she just standing in for someone or what? She normally doesn't step this side of the studio these days and is very often confined to The World.
Perhaps she's helping out, given that Mr. Yates appears to be doing a marathon shift again tonight. He's now switched from World to continuing with the overnight simulcast on World and N24.
It must be the profile of the desk and the forced camera angle that makes the presenters from the New York studio look heavy and squashed.
Manisha Tank is starting to look like Tanya Beckett did on full on front camera angle, however at side view, she looks perfectly thin and elegant as always.

They should do something about it.

Yea, Ive noticed that, and it also looks as if they are standing up at it and leaning on the desk.

Who is Daljit Dhaliwal? Is she a former BBC anchor?
And do Asian viewers get Asia Today also at weekends?

She's best known in the UK as a former host of Channel 4 News, but has made her mark in America hosting ITN's World News bulletins and then moving to CNN (I think!).
She was a presenter at BBC World, then moved to ITN where she presented the ITN World News, that some PBS stations showed in the US. She also appeared on the ITN News Channel (don't think she stayed when it was bought-out by ITV and became the ITV News Channel). She then moved over to the US to work for CNN - but seems to be back freelancing now.

Daljit will be doing some regular presenting from New York for BBC World over the next few months. Justin Webb will be taking over from Katty when she goes on maternity leave after Christmas.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before on TVF but I have just read a post on APFS which said there have been advertisements for the launch of BBC World in the US. Apparently in the New Year, they appeared after newscasts on BBC America. Has anyone heard any more on this?
