I think the shifts' length was regular (6 bulletins for the morning and the evening shift, 7 bulletins for the afternoon shift). The evening shift was Alastair's.

Peter Dobbie was main anchor and co-anchor on a variety of BBC World output from the mid nineties until the launch of News 24, as the correspondent correctly stated above.
He frequently anchored programmes such as Newsday, The Wordl Today and Newshour, as well as being the co-presenter (newsreader) on the same programmes. Not to mention presenting regular BBC World news bulletins.
I agree with the aforesaid comments - his style is also quite unique and he bears the mix of gravitas and light humour that is so often missing with others.
I would be delighted to see him as a replacement on the channel for Adrian, as his international exposure and skills are somewhat stifled (as were Adrian's) on News 24. But, didn't he do a remarkably long shift yesterday? The only presenters I saw on World yesterday were Ben Brown and Peter, both of whom did long shifts.
Was there a third shift later on and if so, who did it?

Are you sure the continuity announcer is Adrian? I know he sounds very like Adrian but I don't think it's him. The continuity announcer sounds too old to be Adrian.

Now that Adrian is leaving, will the BBC now have to re-record all continity announcements for BBC World, I presume they have no choice but to do this now.

Peter Dobbie could be the new voice! He seems a good replacement for Adrian, and Peter is also using Anitas phrase. "And thats all from the newsroom... for the moment"

Yes, Adrian Finighan indeed IS the voice of BBC World. In view of his absence, they have just called me and asked me if I will be the new voice of BBC World.
Joel - as my agent, could you please offer some advice on this matter?
The best "voice" I ever heard on a channel was Patrick Lunt. Alas....

Wonder if Adrian may remain the voice of World...

Seems to be moving around a fair bit recently, but I presume this is due to News 24 taking the Depot Blast explosion coverage.
"The largest blast in peacetime Europe".

I tuned into a bulletin on BBC World this morning and it was their top story. They weren't rolling with it, though. The astons just said 'ENGLAND BLASTS'.

Apologies, my mistake. I just thought he sounds a lot different doing continuity. I suppose they'll have to get rid of his voice altogether. They might get that woman at the end of the countdown to re-do the idents.
NO thanks.
