No buddy, you pretty much hit the nail on the head!! The slot comprised of four of five bulletins, and two of them were always co-presented from Washington and London buy Mishal Husain (W) and Adrian (L). Mr. Embley has now taken over that slot and has made it his own..........Adrian now seems to be used as a fill-in on various slots during the week, as well as being the regular duty anchor at weekends.

We will miss him surely.

Interesting that you mentioned names such as Terret and Navaratnam, and Linette Tye!! Those were real blasts from the past and all missed too. I also recall Linette being the overnight anchor in the mid 90's (before News 24 was ever born and hence before simulcasts), and a role she shared with Alastair Yates, Peter Dobbie and Anita MacNaught amongst others, not to mention short termed presenters such as Veronica Pedrosa, Roger Finn, Ben Brown, Brian Hanrahan and Carla Garapedian. Melinda Wittstock too!!!!!!!!!

Those were the days.....................

you may not have noticed but there has been a shake up in the presenters rotas on World. Expect to see some familiar faces at unfamiliar times in the next few weeks.

Yeah, I noticed Martine Dennis presenting during Nik Gowing's old shift. I wonder if he's gone to the morning shift?

It was nice to see Martine on at an irregular time - it's years since she occupied that slot here on World. Great to see here, and she looked so fresh carried out her newsreading duty in truly excellent Martine style!!

It may just be a temporary thing, because Nik Gowing is now out here in Dubai, where he is moderating some forum or other, although that should perhaps be nearing an end just now.

ArchiveTV - I hope you are right - it will be great to see a little bit of a juggle of rotas just now. For example, who did Martine's regular slot yesterday? And who did TWT etc??

Joel - hi honey!

I saw Lindsey Brancher on TWT a couple of days ago, Lucy doing it this morning.

The past 2 days David Eades has done the afternoon shifts.

Not to mention his weekend shift too, Damo. Perhaps David Eades will now occupy that afternoon and weekend slot permanently in view of Adrian's departure?? Hmmm....

But, did Mike Embley still do his regular shift last night, and one then must wonder where Nik Gowing will go???

Are there any live feeds of BBC WORLD left on the internet? I remember one from Thailand being available but don't think it is any longer.

At 8pm News 24 played a short sting straight after the countdown to cover the breaking news (the US plane incident). Liz Pike called it 'BBC News' and there was no mention of the story of The World on BBC Four - did BBC World take News 24 rather than show The World? The TOG (right term?) on News 24 showed 'BBC News' briefly as well.

There was some sort of simulcast leading upto 20.00; at around 19:55 they ended with "This is BBC News" and the BBC News logo appeared at the bottom of the screen, implying a World/News24 simulcast.

After 20.00, the short BOTH News 24 sting was used, and judging by Liz and Chris I thought that it was just a N24 transmission...
