It's normally Rico Hizon, but if he's away, they use either Mae Loon or another lady, who's name also escapes me.

God - the jetlag is getting me this time. I am forgetting everything. (But her name IS listed on the BBC World website).

James

Edit: Sharanjit Leyl is the other presenter I was thinking of. She is also the programme's producer.

I really don't understand why they always use the ticker, which carries the same news contained in the bulletin and just distracts me, and today during the breaking news coverage, perhaps the only moment when the ticker would be helpful, they didn't.

But which of them was actually on duty this week?
I have never seen Mae Loon doing the Asian business during the WBR edition of TWT. In fact I have never seen her reporting live. She used to present my beloved Asia round up from the Singapore Stock exchange every Friday during the 30 minute-long transatlantic edition of the WBR but they dropped it last July - I can't see why. I suspect that's because the Sinpagore Stock exchange has gone electronic and so it would have been less fab to present the thing without the traders shouting in the background. So when did they use her to present the Asian business on TWT? Don't tell me it happened this week!!! Sad . That wouldn't surprise me 'cause it seems I always miss the fab stuff on this channel! Crying or Very sad I already know I'll be away and unable to tune in when Keshini or John Terrett return.
It reminds me that I haven't seen a piece by Mae Loon since the middle of October and my return from Asia - I saw of few during the Five Year celebrations of ABR. Have some of her reports been aired since then, either on the WBR or Asia Today?
I saw Sharanjit a lot in September - Rico Hizon was on holiday perhaps. It's quite funny 'cause I actually discovered her on Bloomberg TV, when she anchored both On the money Asia and Moneycast Asia , I was surprised when she first appeared on BBCWorld. I didn't know she was the producer of ABR.
Does anyone Know when Linette Tye returns or what happened to her? I haven't seen her for quite a while - for years to be honnest.

Don't know who was on duty this week. I have been travelling to deepest USA where they don't have BBC World sadly. Although I was able to see Zain Verjee doing a week long stand in on CNN domestic service.

You noted above that Keshini and John Terret are returning? When is that happening and how do you know?

Either way, it's great news!!

Apologies for falsely raising your hopes. I'm so sorry about that. Confused I would also like to see them back, but what I meant was that since I tend to be the most unlucky in terms of fab things that occur from time to time on this channel, I am confident that I will miss their returning, provided that they return one day. But in terms of Keshini I'm very pessimistic, for I suspect she's left BBCWorld.

Yah, her contract with World ended.

Latest research in the US among Opinion Formers now puts BBC News as the eighth most regularly watched News programme, ahead of all programmes on CNN. Remarkable figures.

BBC World is unavailable as a 24 hour channel. Several programmes are rebroadcast through PBS and BBC America. The main PBS programme is the 2300GMT which is why it is presented from Washington. It goes out at 1800 on the East Coast.

BBC America now takes World as it's breakfast programme, from 11-14GMT

I had thought that he left to work for an American tv station as an expert or something.....

For all of us who feel nostalgic for the Golden Age of our beloved channel (i.e. the "creme and China red" era), I've found a marvellous site which, if the links were working, would certainly be my favourite of its kind. That's http://www.informativostv.com/informativostv/BBC/BBC%20WORLD/bbcworld2001.htm
It also features galleries with shots from the previous eras. Please let me know if somehow you manage to play anything.

Haibara, the links are working, but not always. The files are are downloadable during certain times of the day. For further information have a look at the main page of the site. Wink
