Interesting market reserch carried out by BBC World on UK MP's

When asked if they were in favour of BBC World being made available in the UK, complete with advertising 54% said they agree and 25% disagree.

So if you want to see it, lobby your MP

To encourage them in their belief that the other BBC networks should carry commercial advertizing too?

Finally, The TV Room has footage of BBC World's presentation from 2003-present. Now, comparing the 2003 and the current countdown, I have to say that, at least musically, I prefer the older one. Really, it sounds much bolder and fuller. The current countdown sounds like it hasn't finished yet and is far not as sophisticated as the previous one. The clear beats make me think of the first ever such countdown I believe on BBC News 24 in 1999.

Recently, my mother entered my room during BBC World's countdown just before the top of the hour. She started dancing in front of me--and in front of the TV--in her own... bizarre way (like an ancient Egyptian with spastic bursts). Yes, it says something about my mum, but definetely about the countdown--or at least its beat--as well. People musn't dance during such an important moment like the BBC World countdown. It's evil; you don't take the headlines serious anymore.

This countdown sounds like a record digged up from the eighties.

In other news: I like News 24's headline bed much more than World's as it leads to a real climax that is the big bang. It resembles a more fluent transition.

Old and new music sounds good, but the new music doesnt sound 80's! and as for the dancing bit well erm ok! my little brother done something smiliar a couple of weeks, but he was only doing it to be a smart arse! and as the news 24's headline bed, well theres nothing to it really, and World's is more upbeat? if thats what you can call it!

Having a look back at BBC World material, it has to be said the presentation was a zillion times better, it's just not good these days. Crying or Very sad

I have to agree that presentation isnt as good as what it used to be on BBC World, but I still think this is the best countdown the channel have had.

I would prefer the BBC News24's countdown though, I have to agree with Vanilluz. The countdown leads to the climax which is the first beat of the headlines.

The countdown is very good, but it feels like an add on, rather then an integrated part of presentation if you know what I mean.

Nail and head. Same really with News 24. There seems to be "Beams" for a while then "ribbons" and the beams are the only really interesting and effective peice.
I was hoping there would be a review of the titles when they reviewed (and altered) the countdown but no such luck.
