I really think it is time for the David Eades era on TWT to come to an end.

Well done, you win the prize. A night out with Tanya Beckett.

The Business unit is now based in the offices of Channel 13 and use one of it's studios for WBR.

The camera is on the roof.

Thanks for that Archive - but since I never meant it as a competition, I won't claim the prize and Ms Beckett is safe from 'the Hatton Cross night out experience' for a while!

Where the WNET studios/offices are, are not exactly in the most 'glitzy' part of town (i.e cheaper rent), so they've done well with the camera lock-out angle to get a few of the well known sites in the shot.

I wonder why they didn't use a 1 cam studio at ABC, and use a lock-out camera pointing down Manhatten Island and towards the Financial district on the Horizon.

Did they change the colour of the text with the headline flying across to white? I find the headline text especially attention seeking in the mess of BBC News spinning all over Laughing

No I think it was always white. Might have changed slightly when they got rid of the orange globe way back.

Well the text has got sharper but they have got themselves in a pickle in the process, by saying BBC World from BBC News one minute, the next declaring they are BBC News from BBC World. Crying or Very sad

Albeit I would not be particularly disappointed if that was the case, I've got to say that David Eades really isn't the worst (my nightmare: Kirsty Lang popping up on my TV first thing in the early morning lool). He is calm (wooden some might say) and experienced. He and Manisha are an odd couple (same for the previous David Eades / Sally Bundock duo), with Manisha's dynamism compensating his lack of energy - or if you prefer, his phlegm helping to temper Manisha's exuberance; but that's an acquired taste. Of course a rather more harmonious couple would be preferable, like Adrian / Manisha, but so far I would not demand changes as far as TWT is comcerned.

Who said "BBC World from BBC News"? Shocked

In terms of the New York studios, why did they leave their Time Square bureau? I admit that during the John Terret era, the "Nasdaq" sign was a little too open, too flashy, but then they changed the angle several times before completely redesigning their studios. I resent their policy of frequent design changes.

They should use a view of the Empire State Building like the one featured in Live with Regis & Kelley lool

I think Marcus mentioned that the on-screen graphics would be changing soon. Very Happy
Hopefully, Lambie Nairn will be responsible for the changes.

Because it was temporary and had to be built from scratch every day...

It's fifteen minutes past the hour and for the first time since the beginning of BBC News, there is sound!

It started even before the TOTH, when the screen went black. During the headlines I believe, there was vision again but no sound. When the first commercial break began, one could hear the sound of the 'African sunrise' ad from African Airlines but actually SEE an 'Incredible India' ad. And then the sound went back off for another few minutes.

It was only at a quarter past the hour, when sound came back on with the business presenter talking about... business.

No, it's not my TV.

In the BBC World Survey, a question was asked "The pace of BBC World can be slow at times," and wether you agree or disagree. I put strongly agree because in comparison to Sky or even News 24, their formula or having 1 presenter all the time doesnt quite give the impression of a fast paced news channel.

How did you answer?

It dosen't feel like a fast paced news channel, their countdown is out of character with the whole channel itself, mind you I only watch the channel in the morning and a little bit night when the newsroom is quiet, before they built the glass walls, it felt a little more fast paced, but back then we were comparing it to News 24 which at the time hardly looked like a professional 24 hour news channel, how times have changed.
