Well bye bye everyone!

A couple of points:

Arrow 10 minutes ago you were banned. Now you're not.

Damian this is pathetic. I expected a full-blown "I'm leaving" thread out of you young man. Go stand in a corner and think about what you've done.

Leave Damo alone. I think he should be un banned. There are some members which really do need to be banned here, and Damo isnt one of them... Rolling Eyes

What's happening to BBC World's Weather forecast? They keep talking about Thursday and Friday and Saturday!! What the hell are they talking about? They also speak of Rita about to hit costal land on Friday. Is this what they call putting news first? That's rather putting yesterday's news first...LOL

I've finally watched that long heralded - and long awaited as far as I'm concerned - Coming of Age programme. I have to say I had been bracing myself for something much better than this trivial gathering of anecdotal stories, part of which directly comes from "The boot camp", a 30 minute-long programme originally shown last March as part of the BBC's China week.

In terms of The World , I agree it isn't even the shaddow of its former self, that's to say prior to the 2004 redesign of the 2100 CET News bulletin. It used to be a highly respectable, interesting, relevant and substantially in-depth news programme. Now it's simply an extra edition of NewsExtra, since the pieces it consists of are often aired again during the 2330 edition of NewsExtra or the 2445 edition of Asia Today. Remains the high-level two guest - interviews which account for my keeping watching this programme.

And that's right, I also feel like since november 2004 everything's been going downhill on this channel. Not least in terms of incidental musics and stings and breakfillers and programme trailers, but also as far as the overall quality and relevance of the programming.

i live in america so i really only see tanya beckett, alistair yates, and katty kay. one thing that confuses me is that most of the time the news is broadcast from washington, but sometimes it is from my hometown, nyc.

Simply because when Katty is away Tanya Beckett replaces her and so the bulletin is broadcast from NY, where she lives. Recently Katty also anchored from NY to cover the gathering of world leaders at the UN. But that was as part of a special coverage.

Well most of the time it's in London. The Washington studio is used for the bulletins PBS take, the New York studio is mainly for business news

i've just noticed at half past the hour, that they used the old 'return from commercial break' sting with BBC NEWS.

Was this a mistake or have they re-adopted it for the half-hour.

i think its better because it signifies the return to the newsroom after the weather and is different form the stings used during the bulletin.
