It wasn't a scheduled debut for the countdown - we just needed to test it on air as it's been going wrong (out of sync) all weekend. I gave it 27" (giving me a few seconds to get the old one back if it looked like failing!!) - longer than we would normally play the old countdown but may leave it for longer (up to a minute?) later today. Need to get the OK from channel management before we schedule it. There's four versions, but we only have one in sync at the moment!
I like it though - think it adds a little something to the top of the hour!

there will be one for 10 seconds before the 11 (no more time in schedule) However, we do now have the ok to go up to a minute, so we'll get some nice long ones later.
Hmmmmm....not so bad at all. I quite like it, form what I have seen so far. However, like most of you, my only complaint is that we only get to see a few seconds of it. The longest countdown I can recall in World history was around 34 seconds. (thats after the advent of the visual clock counting down. Prior to that - in the waving flags era - it wasn't uncommon to have the "countdown" last for up to a minute!!!!)
it's just a pity that the headline beds and titles now slow all the proceedings down
Same arguement with News 24 after they introduced their new version. The titles could really do with a universal wipe clean. They're slow and frankly tacky. Although I think World Headline bed will now suit this more...

Hi NewsExtra. Thank you for the information and welcome to TVForum. It's always nice to have an insider to explain what's going on on the channel.

Yeah you are very welcome. Its great to see someone on here willing to help like you are.
Could you pre warn us about the long version you plan on putting out, so we can grab it.
