Wow Adam!!!! Happy Birthday BBC World thread. Indeed! I had no idea it had been going for so long. Thanks to everyone who has helped keep it an amusing, informative and technically interesting thread for the last 365 days!!! Thanks Harshy and BBC World 2005 for your posts above.
Back to business - although I don't really like his style of reporting normally, I was totally amazed by the excellent piece that Matt Frei did last night, and which was aired on BBC World along with N24. Excellent journalism and strange to see Matt in a canoe, using a shovel as a paddle, and making his way through the streets of New Orelans, which have now become canals. Nice report Matt, and touching too. Did anyone see the lady in curlers??
Just prior to that, in a World bulletin initiated by Adrian Finighan (6 days out of 7 on duty this week!), he handed over to Jon Sopel. However, there was a timing glitch, as N24 were clearly also handing over to Sopel at the same time, and on World we mistakenly caught the end of Chris Lowe's voice during his handover to Jon in New Orleans. It was from that point onwards, that the dual DOGs appeared on screen at the same time, as indicated by the Correspondent above.
Later in the evening, we were treated to a bulletin presented by George Alagiah, live from NO. It would bave been 6pm UK time, so I assume that Network, World and N24 were all taking this feed at the same time.
Isn't George so much better suited to being out in the field, as opposed to stuck behind a desk????
All the best - let's keep this thread going for one more year, and beyond!!!!
